Just bought this...

Anyone used one of these? I bought it to replace my shitty Kevlar disk that came with the F1 racing stage 2 kit. I'm rather excited. How is it? |
Had one on my old t25 running 12psi and it held great. Could even brake boost and start spinning the tires with no clutch slip
I ran a sprung version of that 6 puck in an RX7 and loved it. Wasn't nearly as bad as some people made puck clutches out to be, though the solid hub will very likely be a bit more harsh and tougher to modulate at the friction point.
I have the same thing in my car but sprung.
Its a pain in the ass around town. HORRIBLE. Switching between gears is no problem. Its great. But when you just start moving, its so harsh it makes the whole car shudder. When its cold its actually great. over 20 minutes of driving and heating it up (or in traffic) and that fucker becomes an on/off switch. I wish you best of luck. If I had a chance to do it over again I'd never go with a 6 puck again. |
What 18psi said, although I don't do much driving in traffic, so it's okay for me. Makes me feel like I don't know how to drive a stick when I'm starting from a stop and it's warmed up a bit. While moving, gear shifts are very mechanical and sharp, I love it.
I drove the 6 puck in Jeff C's car and while the engagement was at the top of the pedal travel, it was just fine otherwise. Pretty much felt like a slightly tighter stock clutch.
You bunch of pansies!!! It'll be fine. Just don't suck at driving.
says the guy that never had a 6 puck in his car lol
Been driving with one since 2008, summers (may to September) in rush hour traffic, every day. It definitely is a bit touch and go, but you get used to it real quick. Not recommended if you drive in stop and go traffic every day (I'm hardcore like that though).
Edit: Sorry, I have the ACT Prolight flywheel (8lbs?) and the spec stage 2 or 3... 6puck sprung. I like the shudder at takeoff, makes it feel even more sporty (eh, I like mechanical stuff :/) |
I daily drive a 6 puck. No problems at all once I got used to it.

Been using 6 puck clutches in both my 99 and 02.... 80 miles per day in stop and go traffic......
It's not too bad once you get used to the shudder and instant grip. For me, I changed my stock clutch in my 02 before doing anything else since once you get used to the 6-puck feel.....there is no going back. It's pure love! Cheers, Matt |
6 puck and 8lb flywheel. Get some bawls and bitches
Just installed a spec stage 3 6 puck yesterday. it seems like it gonna be fine for daily driving. So I'm guessing the noise it makes is normal? It's like little chatters at lower rpms
Yes the chattering is normal for clutches like these
