Just installed KYB AGX's- LEAKING!

So I just installed my BRAND NEW KYB AGXs w/ eibach pro-kit. First thing I did, before even installing them, was set the dampening to 8 all around. They feel great, but I pulled the car back into the garage, and hours later, what do I notice? Two approx 9"x4" puddles of oil behind the front left, and rear right wheel.

-How did this happen?

-Are these shocks blown garbage now?

More than likely they're done. Blows, but it happens - my first-ever set of Konis only lasted from my garage to the alignment shop before the fronts started leaking. REALLY sucks if you mail-ordered them and have to return them and wait for judgment.

well first make sure it's shock oil... the brake lines can take a beating too if you're not careful during a shock install.

the smell should give it away. to know what brake fluid smells like, stick your finger in your brake fluid reservoir...

It's definatly the strut. The oil seems to be leaking from the adjustment knob. Is this typical?

leaks are never tipical :)

get them to replace them. are the shafts scored at all?

bilstein > agx

i just bought kyb's for my Subaru because there was literally no other option.

Blisten = moar $$$$

you can score some of those 8 way adjustables for like 250 shipped to your front door... front and rear.

A lot of guys use the AGX. It's a good budget option. Haven't heard of consistent problems. Should be warrantied.

I know 3 people who blew agx's with very little driving.

Have had AGX 4 way adjustable in my car for 50K mi now and no probs (I've made at least 40 dragon runs not to mention the 6hrs to get there and then back again and run through 5 sets of tires on these shocks w/heavy abuse). Also have kyb gr-2 in wifes corolla wagon and they've held up under heavy load and long trips so maybe it was just a bad batch or quesionable source ? IMO Bilstein is still the prefered choice but I didn't have the $ for those and the kybs have held up - adjustments are easy (I usually run 3F 2R or 4F 3R for fun driving).

crashing over shit in the road (and rumble strips on the track) are what tear up dampers, not low speed compression.

My bilsteins were only $380 shipped to my door.

I've done 4 track days (and I love the curbs) and a full season of AutoX on my AGX's. No problems so far. I have heard of some bad sets of AGX's, but mine have been fine. When I can afford some Koni's I may upgrade, or just get JIC and call it.
