Just when you think its all fixed......

So now that I have my car back and it looks good and runs like a beast, I'm still having issues. I re-did the entire car to fix all these problems I was having yet, I'm still having them.

Now I noticed that water is somehow getting in and got the back behind the passenger seat wet. Hardtop was supposed to fix that issue.

The exhaust leak is still pretty bad but I got used to it. And now I have Abe making me new stuff so that fixes that, but the FM3 kit I got was to replace the crapped out Greddy kit I took off.

And tonight the fucking headlights went out! On the way here I noticed I only had one low beam so I went to switch to my high beams and only had one of them. Halfway here the fucking other low beam went out and now I'm left with 1 high beam. Jesus fuck! :vash:

Now tomorrow I need to figure out what in the fuck is going on with my headlights. I really don't have time to keep tearing into this car week after week. I know this is part of having a modded car, but really?

This is why I have a brand new car that only the dealer touches. It is amazing. Sorry to hear though.

18psi 12-06-2009 06:15 PM

Sucks man.
That's what happens when 90% of your car has been modified though: Its much more prone to failure. I'm working out all my little issues as well.

Vashthestampede 12-06-2009 06:29 PM

I'm looking now for something used that I can DD through the winter.

I want something AWD or 4WD capable, or at least FWD. I'd like to get something to use for work to carry all this shit around that I'm selling for people, but size isn't super important. I don't know what I want really, but I NEED something. This car needs to go back to being my fun car, not my everyday car.

Can anyone shed some light on if its worth it or not to get a business loan and use that toward a vehicle? I could have a couple grand together to get something used that's cheap, but maybe its worth it to get something newer and just make payments. :hustler:

18psi 12-06-2009 06:34 PM

I'd get a wrx

Tmorgan 12-06-2009 06:47 PM

Get an Audi 4000

Cspence 12-06-2009 06:57 PM

Get a wrx wagon...they can be had for a decent price and are capable. I sure do love my R32 though, especially yesterday in the snow!

Be responsible.

I second the Subaru wagon suggestion.

jacob300zx 12-06-2009 07:23 PM

+3 wrx wagon

curly 12-06-2009 07:31 PM

saab hatchback, a 900 will carry way more than any subaru. mid to late 90's are $2-5k, leather, heated seats, ac, fully loaded. And turbo charged. Avoid automatics.

deliverator 12-06-2009 07:37 PM

Yet another +1 for WRX wagon.

Very happy with mine.

I have yet to see a reliable, running SAAB that's more than a few years old.
They may be out there, but so rare its not even funny.

You can't go wrong with a WRX. My first went 110,000 with out a single trip to a mechanic (I did the basic maintenance), and it spent more of it's life near redline than not. I just bought an 08 wagon on Thursday, 15K mi for 19K, very clean car, clean carfax. It will be very lightly modded. A modest suspension package, and SPT cat back exhaust.

Since I sold my first WRX, a year and a half ago. I've been driving my projects to and from work (88mi one way), and it got old. Jumping them at 4:30 am when it's 16* outside, watching the gauges, wondering if your going to make it home. So the WRX is my new DD, the rest are now just toys.

Saab 92-X is very reliable.

Oh, wait. That's another WRX wagon. :giggle:

subaru wagon

hustler 12-06-2009 09:35 PM

buy another $1500 miata. My daily miata was wrecked, owned by a drifter andits had 70% leak in #3 for 2-years. I never have to work on it.

I was actually thinking about this. I've already done the miata through the winter time thing. I just don't want to chance it with the miata the way it is now. Maybe I'll pick up a cheap NA and throw some snow tires on it and call it a day.

I'd love to get a subaru LGT. WRX's are just too cheap inside to me.

Faeflora 12-06-2009 11:42 PM

Were you using gaskets between the DP and the midpipe? I found my huge exhaust leak and it was the flange between those two. I had no gasket :(

jedduh01 12-07-2009 12:13 AM

Cheap car... Reliable... Transportation that can haul

VOLVO Wagons...

850 wagons 1000-2500 bucks. drivable condition Turbo and nonturbo engines
s v 70 wagons 98 - 2000 2000-4000 bucks
the v70 xc is all wheel drive, turbo. brick, hauler 3000 - 5000 prob higher being in the NE where awd is precious.

lgt ftw A buddy has a 2005 it's very nice inside and pretty quick for a stock car... Trouble is it's hard to find one thats not automatic.

I would take an auto. I'd rather not, but for a DD I wouldn't care if it was an auto.

I'm on the hunt for something. Who knows when I'll find it, what it'll be, and how much I'll spend, but I've got my eyes open in the meantime.

Fucking miata had a hard time starting this morning. I had my fun with it for a couple weeks, now its time to park it and cover it. lol

hustler 12-07-2009 04:57 PM

A Volvo wagon would be cool too, but I went with another miata because I can work on this car in my sleep and I have a garage full of extra/spare parts. Also, when I get the Drophead for a daily I can make the ugly miata a racecar.

Exactly.
Reasons I bought a DD miata: price of car, price of parts, access to parts, reliable, no car payment, decent fuel economy, somewhat fun to drive(bone stock)

I didn't have money for wrx/wrx wagon, which is what I want.

Vashthestampede 12-07-2009 05:39 PM

The miata interior is bare. It doesn't try to be anything special, look fancy, or have any gadgets. The WRX tries too hard. If it was just all black and bare with no hint of boy racer in it, I would like them more. The interior in that car kills it for me personally.

I looked at a couple Volvos on eBay. I haven't found anything yet that got my attention.

I might seriously pick up another miata if I can find one at the right price. If I got another miata it would get snow tires, a hardtop, and that's it. I wouldn't go fucking around with a second one.

EDIT: I actually just listed a 1999 Chevy Astro AWD on ebay about an hour ago that would be perfect for me, but I just don't have the cash right now for it.

Ummm your joking right lol. I owned a STi and it had the crappiest interior ever. There is nothing fancy about any of subarus interiors as i now own a 08 Impreza and that is the same junk. I have to say I have always loved the WRX wagon its a great all around car for anything you might need .
