The parts that break on 1.6L diffs are the 6" ring gear and small pinions. Upgrading to a different limited slip meatball will do nothing for the strength of the diff.

... so in other words i shouldnt buy it since their is no way of strengthening the weak parts

damn that was pretty cheap too
oh well

Its the small ring and pinion gears that are weak, not the diff. You need a 1.8L diff.

Sorry bud, I'm in the same boat. I've actually been thinking about selling my 92 and getting a 94+ just to get the 1.8, tranny and diff without having to waste anymore time on the thing.. But I already have the VLSD so I may just wait till it dies and I have a reason to upgrade..

hmmm

well im pricing up a nb lsd conversion kit next week from a mazda wrecker, what do you think it will set me back?

well see, in nz im guessing with all the imports we have stuff will be a bit cheaper

if its too much ill go buy a megasquirt instead

Peace

What does 557795 mean.

Limited slip 1.8 differential swaps here in the states will run from 500 - 1000$ from what I've seen. If you're calling a wrecker to source one, request the cars VIN and call your Mazda dealer with it -- They can look it up and check to see if OEM it had Limited slip.
