My little bro had one that said Mazdaspeed and it was decent.

Ya, my good buddy has one of the sparco ones in his 99 miata and it looks like the real thing. As a matter of fact, I didnt even know it was a knock-off untill he told me. I have been meaning to get one for myself, I just havent gotten around to it yet.

adbradley 11-30-2006 09:46 AM

i have one that is like it, and once i got it to fit, it looked good. But i live in AZ and it gets 9,000,000 degrees in your car. The wheel i have had partial rubber grips and they started to ooooze out some kind of resin lookin stuff that was real stickey.. it looked good up until that point.

i have a blue bride one - looks great :)

i think i got that exact one for the new miata. i was expecting somthing not very nice. it is durable and well finish stiching is nice and its a great size and the ergonomics are good too. i threw away the horn button haha and just left it open i highly recommend it.

I looks silly without the button. Why would you recommend it?

Fritch 12-01-2006 12:55 AM

they just look "cheap" to me :dunno:

mxv 12-01-2006 10:55 AM

thats the point.. thats 100$ i can throw into somthign that accually matter unlike a stupid steering wheel. put things in proportion.

hustler 12-01-2006 11:51 AM

is that aftermarket wheel closer to the driver? I need to push the steeringwheel location back some, but want a quick release adapter too.

Splitime 12-01-2006 01:20 PM

Becareful with alot of those Ebay wheels. You'll find them soon flexing. The top half will begin to get loose and flex forward/back. Ive seen it happen to a few locals.

Its hit or miss though....

If you want a nice "cheap" new wheel... check for dealers carrying the momo Tuner... its a cheap version of the higher end Corse. Great wheel and almost the cheapest Momo wheel (except for the monte carlo).

Newbsauce 12-01-2006 01:40 PM

Are the knock offs like quick release w/ hubs or do they bolt into the existing setup? To be honest I've bought the knock off seats..and they get constant compliments...can't kill me to buy a cheapo wheel.. cause I sure as hell dont want an air bag :)

mxv 12-01-2006 02:41 PM

i just cant justify spending 150+ on a steering wheel, thats like spending 700 on a seat and 100 for a shift knob thats just retarded.

my quick release is the same thickness as the adaptor hubs. the difference i believe is in the wheel depth.

It can be quite worth it though. Difference in thickness, material, design, size etc... can all contribute to driver fatigue/comfort etc...

My last wheel was a momo tuner... great wheel and I loved it. The miata is getting a tiny momo team though, i got it for about 60bucks in trade.

A nice wheel is worth it... mid 100s is my cutoff though.

If you have ever sat in a 700 dollar seat you would know why it's 700 dollars.

mxv 12-01-2006 05:38 PM

if i had all the money in the world id go all out on everything, but since i am not rich i have to find my areas to cut my corners and i feel that the seats and steering wheel is two sections that i can skimp on. so i am just saying the ebay wheels are impressive for the money they cost.. .thats all i am saying not looking for a 50 post arguement. :ugh2:

aside from the weight, my sparco sprint gets the job done just fine.

I'm not trying to argue at all. You make an extremely valuable point and I know exactly where your coming from.
