Default My Install of In car Flip Switches

Ok well I managed to find a different solution for in car Switches.

Not trying to advertise, just want to show people what I ordered and what I did.

I ordered this "Phone Console (Attachment 1)" from MiataMania.com which I found pretty useless actally, since I wasn't will to mount my phone on it. I thought I could mount maybe my MP3 player on it, bit didn't realize it didn't have any brackets.

Then Ordered these switches (Attachment 2) off ebay. In case the auction is gone, this is the sellers items.

I drilled in 1/2 inch holes into the phone console and the switches come with washers and a nut and it fit perfectly.

These switches light up blue, but I saw other ones on ebay, red, green etc..

Well I wanted to mount my MP3 player there but wasn't sure how, because that console doesn't come with any brackets.

Switch 1:
I use one switch to control the lights on the washers on the hood, cause they are "illegal" so I'm told.

Switch 2:
Under the passenger seat I have one of those outlet boxes where you can plug normal 120outlet items into, like a laptop or whatever. It's hooked up to the battery and so I turn it off and on via the switch.

Switch 3:
Used to control my rader detector behind my rear view mirrior, but got rid of it, was thinknig of hooking up to my GPS reciever, which talks to my phone. But right now it's not being used. Just there for looks.

The switches there light up blue on the tips.

I to has a no slip pad, but that's is my truck. In the miata my ipod goes under the console in the middle armrest. I have an ipod adapter so i can control it from the JVC deck, keeps it out of sight when it's sitting in parking lots. Cellphone usually goes in the ashtray.

I've mounted my ipod in the ashtray. Works well and is completely stealth when the cover is closed.

yeah, not feeling you on the washer squirters. I shaved my squirters long ago.

Cool idea though, for those looking for a spot for extra switches. As long as you're working on the interior, why not find a way to route that cigarette lighter cord so it's not in the way?

3G 10gig.

I took the ashtray apart and filled it with epanding foam insullation. Carved out a spot for the ipod and then covered it all in black leather. Looks pretty good and is very secure. I've got pictures around somethere.

We got pulled in NC for the blue washer lights that were on my wife's car:

(PO installed them - long gone now)
