Leaking Exhuast Gases Internally on an engine...?

looking to pick up this miata for 1250. They guy said he had the engine rebuilt and now a "local" shop has found "leaking exhaust gases that are internal to the engine". My question is uhhh the hell does that mean. When i read it I think sticky valves or bad valve seals. Other then that and say fucked up rings any ideas on other area's that "exhaust gases" could be leaking from internally to the engine?

If it's only $1200, just assume it needs a new motor. Score one for $350, spend an afternoon putting it in. Clean the car up and sell it for $3 grand. You just doubled your money. :bigtu:

more like use it as a daily when the other miata is down... =P also running miata motors go for 500-600 out hurrrr... broke ones go for 100.

that usually means a head gasket issue... that's one of the ways to test for a head gasket leak is hydrocarbons in the coolant. AKA...internal exhaust gas leak from the cylinder to the cooling system.

Ahhh shizz that kills that idea no way it would make it 300 miles home on the freeway without warping the shit out of the head.

tow it. if it's clean body wise it is still a deal

Braineack 07-05-2007 08:06 PM

Dang id love to snatch this up if you dont get it.. where is it located?

LunaticDriver 07-05-2007 10:12 PM

About an hour North West of Seattle Washington. Talked to the guy he said it has overheated least one time.... Im thinking warped head along with the head gasket... So anyone in the NW quick grab if you want it.

RusMan 07-06-2007 12:07 AM

Yes, hopefully it's not sold yet, I've been trying to contact the guy for the past 2 days since he posted the ad. I don't have a car right now and this is just perfect, hopefully it's an easy fix.

RusMan 07-06-2007 12:15 AM

Damn sucks, the car has been sold.
