Well since A LOT of the brides out in the wild already are knock off, due to the fact they're nearly impossible to tell apart from the real thing (if you've ever bought a used bride seat, you can bet your ass it's a fake), I'm sure we would have heard about it already if they were unsafe.

Also my requirements for safety are VERY different than yours. I just want an improvement over the stocks seats (that for me have no headrest) and I'm fairly confident these will provide.

The way I've heard it (but have no way to know if it's actually true or not) is that the owner of the plant where they made bride in taiwan waited for the patent to run out in taiwan and got it himself or something like that. Which is why you see, bride is a trademark in taiwan and canada and such bullshit. But the seats are made to the exact same specs they used to be, which is why they're nearly undetectable.

The way I see it, they'd have to go really beyond the call of duty to make them unsafe. Real brides are not FIA certified either, so whether or not those are safe is a whole other discussion.

Anyway, they move A LOT of seats at those prices obviously, but I can't find any reports of them being unsafe (perhaps my google skills are weak, I don't know).

The seat must be FIA approved. Since a few of us are going to be driving on the track i would want to be safe. If its a knockoff there is some shortcut that is not done in the real thing. This could be as simple as the stitching; or something as critical as material of the metal. I want my car when flipped to keep my ass in the same exact spot as i would be right side up. Im not gonna cheap out on knockoffs.

Btw no one here has mentioned brides.

Well the original Bride Vios III with the low max system, which seems to be the best fit for a miata, as far as I know isn't FIA certified either, so that's out.

I'm not sure how well any of the FIA certified brides would fit in the car. Corbeau's aren't either, I was also considering the FX1 Pro, which by all accounts is a much better seat than the Forza, but it won't serve your needs.

I have a kirkey economy layback 10 degree. It's not a bad seat, but I'm replacing it with a sparco sprint only because it fits me better. My car sees very little track use and almost all autox, so the lack of crotch strap is not a deal breaker for me.

For any Cal guys who aren't put off by the bad reports on the Forza's, here's a set of 2 with miata rails for $450:

Just to be clear, the fake brides I was talking about are here.

Apparently some people have crashed while using them, but the crashes weren't severe enough to really test the seats (post #17). If some of you feel like doing a service to humanity and test how much force it takes to break them, I'm sure you'd become a hero on the internets.

I still think they're a pretty viable alternative(if your track doesn't require FIA approval like mine) for HDPE and lap times, though I would love to hear something definitive about quality before I take the plunge.

If you don't care about appearance these might be good for you. Screaming deal if they work and aren't knock offs. Pair of Cobra fixed back seats, homely blue, new but one doubled as a chew toy for his dog. $150 for the pair!
