Default Upgrading DP to BEGI. 1 last choice

I'm buying the BEGI replacement greddy downpipe. I want to buy the mild steel because I'm a student and I'm cheap/poor. What exactly am I signing up for vs. the stainless steel? The original greddy downpipe is mild steel isn't it?

It will last 5-10 years vs. forever. It also doesn't look as pretty unless you coat it, whereas my stainless looks badass even after 18 months and 26k miles.

Avg. cost of a ceramic coating is about 60ish for something of that size right? Maybe that's a better place to put that extra money than the stainless..

Logically, I would think that CA users wouldn't need SS for longevity. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You'd be right. I have no real logical reason for my exhaust being 100% stainless. (seriously, not being sarcastic. Now that I think about it, mild steel would do the same thing, except for being uglier.)

The only other difference is how they deal with heat. IIRC, stainless holds heat in much better, although a ceramic-coated mild would do the same thing.

No salt on roads but we do have the ocean air on the coast here.. perhaps I can find a good affordable ceramic coater in the area...

its only 100 bucks more for stainless than mild, why not? If you looking at doing 60 bucks for coating, think about additional time without it. Plus the time to and from the ceramic coater. If my order didnt take so long to get i would have sent it back to BEGI. I ordered a SS dp and got a mild:(

I'd rather save the 100 if the difference is negligible, put 50-60 of it into a ceramic coating which, I believe will keep heat in even better than the SS, and still pocket the 40 or 50 bucks.

Ceramic coating does very little to keep the heat inside,it's been proven. The only thing ceramic coating does,is keeps parts looking new,not old and rusty.

Spend the extra cash and go stainless steel.

Meh, I'd save (I did personally save) the money. You won't have the car long before the mild steel one goes bad.
