Local Shops for 3.6 Ring and Pinion Install (SF Area)

Anyone know of a shop in the San Francisco Bay area which would be willing to toss in a Ring and Pinion? I'd prefer to go to someone that is recommeded rather than going to some shop I have no idea about.

Recently I lucky enough to pick up a rear end from an 82 Mazda 626. Now that I have the ring and pinion I'd like to get it installed for my turbo set up which I plan on getting soon.

Any recommendations would me much appreciated. :noob:

Wow, count the teeth on both the ring and pinion gears, and post up please. I don't know of anyone who has actually found the fabled 626 3.63.

There's a place in santa clara that specializes in mazda stuff and can do it.

and you can get a chili cheese dog at weinerschnitzel right next door. mmm.

Surprised no one saw it on Ebay. I would have sworn someone would have jumped on it. I know how rare those rear ends are and even missed the auctions bidding. Luckily the guy still had it available and was willing to sell it.

What can I say, must be the luck of the irish. hehe :crx:

I will definately make sure to count the teeth. And I will let you all know once I get it installed.

Gear finally arrived. Here's the pic of it.

Also I picked this up on Ebay. Here is the bid however, if you notice no one even bid on it, which is why I was quite surprised knowing how rare this type of item is. :naughty:

I was lucky enough to pick it up for only 60 bucks which included shipping. I now have a few more dollars to invest in the next part of the turbo setup for the car. :bigtu: It's either that or for the money the shop is going to charge me to install it. :crx:

Cryo-treat that bitch. Protect your investment.

I like how you "conveniently" placed the ring gear around the Durex 50% off sales ad. :giggle:

Thanks Savington. I will definately make a note of that before I get it installed. I've read up on it and it sounds like something I would like to have done as well.

THANKS again! :)

You caught that huh? hahahaha!

cjernigan 04-23-2008 12:25 AM

I can't count the teeth on the pinion. Count them and post up or take a new picture. Please, just interested.

There are 40 teeth on the Ring and 11 teeth on the Pinion.

cjernigan 04-23-2008 01:07 AM

Lucky bastard.

Seriously! $60 is a total steal.

Damn, that's a 3.6. I'd totally get it cryo'd too. You still won't have anything in it, and it will never break.

y8s 04-23-2008 10:04 AM

and slip a durex onto the pinion shaft just to protect it further.

Ben 04-23-2008 10:06 AM

Thanks for the inspiration. I just got me a 3.31 :fawk:
Though it wasn't cheap like yours :ky:

Found a place to Cryo-Treat the gear and pinion for $75 flat fee or up to 21 lbs worth of metal.

http://www.300below.com/

Is that a decent price? And if it is I will be sending it in within the next day or so.

Thanks Fella's I really appreciate all your help thus far. More postings and pics to come!

cjernigan 04-23-2008 11:44 AM

For what you paid for the gears that is a great price.

Are you going to run a 6-speed?

Ben 04-23-2008 01:24 PM

Yeah, well I kind of will have to now.
