Look what I found..

....In my engine bay

Heard a LOUD strange noise backing down my driveway into my garage...pop the hood and this is what was there..

How the hell does this shit happen? If anyone has a fan laying around i'll take it, otherwise i guess i'll go ahead and upgrade to some slim one's here soon.

Also, I never noticed the weird spacing between the blades ont he fan's why do they do that?

EEH...no help needed, well except a new fan, but I was more or less looking for a way this could hve happened, looks like hthe fan partially melted around the center even though that can't really be seen in the picture.

Did you have them running continuously? That is the only culprint I can think of.

I will have one in a few months, but being that it's summer now that won't help you any since you can't really wait that long.

Just get some slim ones and call it a day.

Braineack 07-21-2008 09:27 PM

ill have two spares in a about a week...insane!

Nope, completely stock everything on this car...(except removing a/c p/s, etc... but tht wouldnt affect anything)

I have a spare rad fan, but the motor is weak and has dead spots. If your motor is still good, you can have it for the price of shipping to use the shroud and blades. Let me know, and I'll try to dig it out.

Thanks but I think I'm just going to go ahead and order some good slim fans while I'm replacing this one, might as well. (Why replace something when you can unnecessarily upgrade it? LOL)

the fan spacing is a design to efficiently cool the radiator. odd, but it does work better than equal spacing

Then why aren't universal fans set up that way?

gwilo 07-22-2008 05:41 PM

You can buy just the fan blades seperate from Mazda

Mazda sells the housing, blades & motor as seperate parts.

Don't ask me how I know.

Lets just say I do not have a BEGi Scoop any more but have a new rad & fan.

Sorry I just have to...What the hell happened to leave you down a scooper and up a new rad and fan?

johndoe 07-22-2008 05:53 PM

i guess it scooped something other than air.

MX_Eva 07-22-2008 06:01 PM

I was pretty sure the unequal spacing was to cut down on the fan noise.

gwilo 07-22-2008 06:46 PM

Pulled into a parking lot at a slow speed the approach angle was far to step the scoop was pushed back and up into the rad into the ac and fan. As well as the undertray (now toast).

I can tell you that Bell Eng. weld are very good, the scoop is pretty much toast but every weld held up

Side note the car is on stock springs and Koni's set on the lower setting so I am not that low.

johndoe 07-22-2008 06:51 PM

I'm thinking of making a scooper, but flimsy enough that it will tear off and not damage anything else in an event such as this.

Abs?

EDIT: WHAT THE HELL, WE HAVE A CAPS LOCK FILTER? LOL

EDIT AGAIN. Ok, it changed the BS in ABS to lower case WHY exactly?

gwilo 07-22-2008 07:00 PM

I will be making a scoop as well, I found a nice piece of a flexiable plastic/rubber materal that will work. It is almost the right size too.

It is what is left of my old (1 year old) undertray.
