Looking for info on these headlights
 

Just bought a pair of headlights that were listed as RS Active Type 2 with PIAA DRLs and positioning lamps added. Came with a rats nest of a harness I haven't dug into yet, and a small controller with the PIAA logo on it and two buttons labeled Power and Mode. Google turns up some images of the RS Active Type 2s in stock form but none with these PIAA mods. Went through the "THEE Aftermarket Headlight Thread" on mazdaroadster too, nothing there. There are a couple threads about people replacing the stock RS Active internals with PIAA 960 lights but they look quite a bit different. If anyone knows anything about these I'd love to get schooled! If these are even reasonably close to modern brightness I might swap them in and sell my Bellofs... theyre pretty but the light output is terrible.

Can't take credit, I was following a post about them on FB because I'd just scored a set of RSA-II's and was curious about the PIAAs.

Dude who posted that info said they were an optional deal on certain year Silverados(?) My searching showed them to be discontinued and all but impossible to come by. Good luck!

I figured that would be the case, it was the same with the Bellofs... there are like 3 pictures and zero documentation. Guess nobody bought the damn things back in the day lol.

I thought folks that cared about light output on an NA miata just ran jeep lights.

Funny, I was bidding right along with you on these for a while. Those are either piaa 4081 or PIAA P4000 headlights. I wondered if they put out decent output or not. I guess you are looking for PIAA 960s at this point?

Yes they were a Silverado option for running lights. Type in PIAA P4000 on eBay and you'll find the brackets for sale still, but nearly never the actual lights

If you have either the bellofs or those lamps still, I'd be interested in buying them probably. Just picked up a set of RSAs on yaj but like the look of the bellofs honestly. Send me a PM about either though
