Lost my car keys
I cant find my car's keys, been looking for them for 2 weeks. I even had 2 pairs, Idk where they went.
What should I do? Call Mazda? Sorry for the dumb question but I'm getting stressed out and cant sleep. |
open the yellowpages and look for locksmiths. Some can create a new key by.. well I don't know how they do it but some can without having one to copy from.

Bring your title and license to the closest dealer. They should be able to cut a key for you. Just give the dealer a call first to make sure they have the blank key in stock (I had to wait 3 days to have my dealer get me a spare key).
|
my car came with 7 extra keys
|
Ok, I called my Mazda Dealer and they'll do it for $30.

$30 for a key? Call a different dealer. I think mine was $7.

Remove the lock cylinder and go BRB. Just make sure (unlike me) that you have some sort of theft prevention somewhere like a hidden switch...

I would talk to Ilovetruenos he was an expert on this

Well, I wouldn't, considering

Yea but look at how much it is to get another key on a car with transponders. Its just expensive from a dealership. It takes the parts dept less than 5 minutes to cut the key, and it takes me less than 5 minutes to program the transponder and the key fob, but we still charge over $100 along with everyone else. If yours only charges you $7 for your miata key thats great but most don't do it that cheap.

I just called a different one and they want $13 for a Mazda key or $7 using a Mitsubishi key.

I can get a gallon of milk at Kroger for $4.29. So that $100 includes the cost of a transponder and a fob? Wow, how incredibly relevant to what it costs to cut a key for a 90 miata which doesn't have either of those things and doesn't require programming. Your transponder OTM key will do about as much to start this guy's car as a gallon of milk.
There ya go. After posting I knew I should have edited it to make more sense to you. I'll break it down more next time.... |
