lost my engine mount bracket!
so there i was about ready to drop in my *new* engine into my 90 miata and im looking for the box part that touches the subframe and i find one but not the other. Im almost postitive the car came with one but now i cant put the motor in. Anyone know where i get get just one of them?
you dont need it, i dont have any on mine.
are you sure? whats it for in the first place?
It is there to catch the engine if the mount rubber shears off.
Its there to make you have to remove the engine to put them back in when you forget them the first time around. :vash:
so you guys think i should put them on then?
Yes!
anyone got one they could sell me super cheap?
i wouldn't worry about it really.
I'll look for my extras today.
I have solid mount and don't run them, as long as you have good mounts I wouldn't worry about it.
there is a subframe under the motor anyway, where the hell is the motor going to go IF a mount brakes and that metal bucket isn't there?
Its not like the oil pan isnt already an inch away from the subframe. Only way it might do any noticable damage is if you had diff mounts stretched like a $5 whore, and loose PPF bolts, and 2 broken engine mounts, and it was able to freely move around. Unlikely.
