the bad: fender, hood, headlights, bumper cover.

the good: rad, intercooler and all the pipes, bumper (plastic crash bar scuffed but still whole)

the weird: engine is now shifted (popped the top rad hose off the rad)
Im thinking sheared engine mount? but tow truck driver thinks my front end is tweaked.

both doors and soft top close without issue, no air bags deployed, windshield is fine. no other damage beside what i listed above.

Take it home and start pulling panels off, that's the only way you'll see exactly what's going on. Looks to me like the radiator support may be tweaked based on the way the driver side is raised up.

Yeah. No one will ever be able to tell from some exterior pictures on the internet.

Take things off / apart. Fix what looks broken. Take it for a drive. If it drives straight then put it all back together, paint, polish, it never happened.

As an MSM, that shouldnt be totaled. If it was just a normal NB it probably would be.

I'll give you $50 for the valve cover.

Everything that I see dented is bolt-on/easy to replace. I think you're OK.

Make sure you get an aluminum (OEM) hood. The cheapo replacement hoods are steel and much heavier.

No way, the front corner of that chassis is going to be all crumpled up like my car is. Its going to still look all oil canned and shitty under the cosmetics even after the body shop pulls it out.

I'm going to call that totaled. The MSM specific replacement parts are obscenely expensive, and that paint sucks ***** to match. The motor being move is icing on the cake. Even if the mount bolt just sheared, the motor moving is likely to cause some other issues, and speaks to how much force went through that thing.

The good news is... if it's totaled, that's a nice check you'll get, and these cars are great for parting out.

I don't think it's totaled, everything looks to be bolt on replacements. The concern is the crushed zones on the unibody, which is just be-hide the headlight. Take things apart is the only real way to tell.

Double check headlights. The driver's one is most certainly not good. ($650 from dealer. Aftermarket MSM specific replacements not available.)

It'll be totaled. Insurance companies tend to value cars closer to what a dealer does when they are taking a trade in. It doesn't mater to them what the customer value is. It doesn't take much to add up in cost either especially when getting new OEM parts.

We should be encouraging people to fix them, not crush them. Even if some kind of deal is made with the insurance companies.

The upper radiator hose looks twisted to me. Take a shot of the engine bay standing directly in front of the car so we can see how badly the front end is shifted.

Where are you located?

Did you read my thread?

My car is WAY worse off than that but it did get totaled. I bought it back and got it back driving again for less than $500.

DON'T let the insurance company take that car from you. Keep it in your possession and have the insurance adjuster come to you. If they wish to total it, argue for the very best price, and don't accept their first offer. THEN tell them you'll be buying it back. Buy it back, sell it to me for $1000 more than you bought it back, and go shopping for another miata
