Assuming your car is non-Torsen? I'd personally just get a torsen and swap it in...
yes, open dif...
read my faq on a RX7 lsd swap.
Or the rx7... duh. Personally... I'd go the rx7 LSD route... I completely forgot about it.
yeah, since you already have an open, you can buy a rx7 lsd for $150-225, rebuild it for about $150-200 (or not). Another $100 for setting backlash (if you can't do it yourself), and you're still about half the cost of just a torsen meatball.
I just wouldn't want an OBX unit in my rear, if anything look for Kaaz or Cusco....but beware of the price tag. |
ok tnx, will rx7 diff fit in 1.6 rear end or I need 1.8?
You'll need to do a 1.8 rearend swap. So either find a 1.8 torsen rearend... or a 1.8 open rearend and drop an Rx7 diff in there.
is that true for the 2001 1.6?
Mazda discontinued the 1.6 in the US in 93...apparently it lived on elsewhere for a while. |
yes, you got only the good stuf...
Is it possible that Mazda beefed up the rear in the later non-US cars and just put a 1.6 in for those markets?
i assumed by the link to a 94-05 LSD, that the rear was still the 7".
Davor....any chance you can snap a pic of your dif? then we can tell you exactly what will fit. My bets are on a 7" rear with a 1.6L engine. |
