making adjustable sway bars
 

i had an idea one night to make adjustable sways for the miata out of the stock sways so i gave it a shot. i wanted more oversteer for how tight the local courses are so i decided to make the front bar ends longer. then i took the rear bar and made them shorter and then welded on another tab after it. so i could bring it back to stock feel. so the next day at work i gave it a shot. brought em home bolted them on and so far their working perfectly. not a hint of understeer now. for those that are in stock classes or just feel like being sneeky for that little extra umpf around the course this is an awsome mod as far as i can see it. i love it and i brought the bolts to the back of the rear sway for the softest now and it feels right back to stock again. :bigtu: deffinetly give it a shot if you have the time. for a free mod i should have thought of it alloooot sooner. my camera is busted but ill try to get some pics of what i did to clear it up if anyone is confused

why not just grind the sway flat behind the stock mounting point and drill it...no welding to potenitally break

thatll break before a weld will. if you grind that down that part will be the thinnest point of the whole bar itll need to be fatter. and on the front i dont think there is even a place at the correct angel to do that.

how much did you cut them down by?

shortened the rear by 1/2 inch and added teh second hole 1/2 inch past where the original was if that makes sense. and extended the front 1 inch. so far it really just feels most differnce came from softening the front. the rear i think is so thin making the ends shorter made less difference than doing the front.
