market for stock 00 engine components

Local miata race car builder just got a hold of a 00 engine. 112k, but they want 1200 for it. He said I can have everything. injectors, manifolds, longblock, etc. Is there a market for selling the parts I don't need for the swap into a 93?

It seems like a high price for a higher mileage engine.

Any opinions

I'm unclear on your question unless you're talking about injectors which sell, but not for much.

As far as price that's a little high, but not way out of line. I saw higher mileage stuff at that price attached to a transmission, but did see a few $1K+ motors, which is why I just got another 1.6L. The difference in price covered half my turbo build.

This weekend at a local junkyard, guy quoted me $550 for 75kmile '00 longblock with intake mani. Your local guy is crazy. On the other hand, I'll give you $50 for the exhaust cam if you part the motor.

Shit, I could have you get an engine and pay for shipping and still be good to go. I just purchased the 99 head and intake for sale on this forum. Now I need a 1.8 block. I've also ordered the m-tuned rods. If I get a good deal on a 1.8 block, then I'll be in pretty good shape. The extra money to "build" the bottom end will hopefully be worth it.

If I part the 1.6, then cam is yours.

Can't do an exhintake on a 1.6... I was making a joke about wanting your '00 exhaust cam... nobody would sell one.

I thought that was an odd request coming from you, and knowing what miata you are looking for. I figured it was for a friend.

I'm following your advice and going the 99 route for an engine swap. Unfortunately I can't seem to locate a reasonably priced engine, so I'm buying separate. Feel free to throw me some helpful thoughts and ideas to make this swap go smoothly.

Hustler: that goes for you too. Yes, I've read your thread. There will be no dick sucking in return for your informaition . I repeat, NO dick sucking!:hustler:

You need to find the local guy in your area with a dealer/salvage license who buys totals from insurance companies and make a deal with him. Seriously, go to a salvage yard and tell him what you want, have him find you a wrecked car, and make a deal for it... tell him to find you something with an intact motor, and you'll pay him xxx dollars over his cost if he'll drop it off in your driveway. When you're done, part everything and sell the shell to a junkyard for the scrap value.

You don't get many salvage yards that will buy a Miata since the market is slim... better money in Kias and Corollas that poor people who are shitty drivers and can't afford real repairs always come to salvage yards for.

If you guarantee a guy you'll buy the whole car from him, he can get it dirt cheap and make easy money... and you get an engine for free if you can make enough on the parts and it's worth your time... plus parting your first car is a good way to really test the relationship with your wife... if she's cool when it's over... KEEPER!
