Yes I have a 99 sport package (it was called the R-pkg in the older cars).
The 99 sport pck is the best miata from the factory in suspension, weight (almost as light as an NA). Very few came with a manual rack so if you have a 99 with manual rack and a sport pck. you are very lucky. Why would you upset the car by adding a power rack. Sell the car and find a 99 LS or another package that has a power rack if you want that and let someone that will track the 99 have it.
The P.O. of my car was so glad it went to someone that would keep racing it.

I would say keep the manual steering because I love how it drives on my project miata. When you are driving the limits it helps out a bit in the steering feel as well as being able to predict exactly how much force you will need to make your turn.

yeah the guy sold me the car said it was a sportpackage. with complete everything manual. window, door, steering. lock. everything. it's had 53Kmil on it and i bought it for $5,500. with stock front lip. back sport spoiler lsd, short shifter, blestein (dont know how to spell it) suspension front strut bar and one bar behind the seat dont know wat it call.

sounds like you got a pretty good deal on that car. See if you can get used to manual steering if you can, because its really not that bad after you get over the fact that low speed steering takes a bit more effort.
