Default Will a 01 diff direct-swap with my existing axles?

Just a quick question, I've got a line on a 2001 3.9 torsen diff to replace my existing 95 open diff, will I need the axles or driveshaft? I checked the mnet garage, but it's very vague and only makes mention of later years installing into 90-93 models. I imagine not, but I don't want to buy it and start the swap to find out I do

Edit- and how far off will I be with a 4.1 speedo gear compared to the 3.9 as far as speed, heh

You should just need to pop the stub shafts out of your open diff and knock them into the torsen so you have something to bolt the axles to as an 01 diff uses 1 piece halfshafts usually instead of the earlier halfshaft/stubshaft combo.

Direct swap, but your speedo may read a little low.

Is there a compatible speedo gear that will work with 50r15 wheel/tire combo? 01+ being electric and all makes this interesting to research..

3.9:1 cable speedo gears shouldn't be impossible to come by; your aluminum speedo gear housing might work too. Getting exactly the right gearing between 45 and 50 tires might be a little difficult though.

When did they change to type II axles, late 95 or early 96?

I did the swap on my 97, it was a direct swap since it has type II axles. Didn't pay attention to my speedo either, but I could tell the gears were MUCH longer, heh.

Excellent, that's what I'm hoping for. Better freeway milage and best part is when I put my 2871 in I can get some good power to the ground.

I like to autocross with this car, but I noticed I rarely make it to more then a few PSI (almost all the tracks i've been on were too small), so longer time between shifts, and a bump in my rev limiter are in order methinks..
