Is it me or did they jump $200 bucks?

I was looking around on FM web site and there once $5xx something pistons are now $796. WTF Did they make these things invincible or do they thing the economy is back to normal.

buffon01 07-12-2010 04:19 PM

Things at FM tend to be a bit pricey. Im a broke bum, so that might have a lot do with my statement.... so yeah.

hustler 07-12-2010 05:21 PM

lol @ fattening the price for no reason. They can get away with it though I guess.

Pitlab77 07-12-2010 05:36 PM

sure were $589.00

Hum HD roll bar prices are going up on Aug1st. Dammit guess I better order mine soon since I cant find a used one.

miatamike203 07-12-2010 06:39 PM

Got to love it the market is still the same and yet the prices go up and yet at the end off the season right when people start going to buy there parts to rebuild. lol

Reverend Greg 07-12-2010 07:22 PM

When We had a local dinner with the Guys from FM...Bill said that if he didn't charge enough you wouldn't think it was worth buying...or something of that nature. They are proud of their parts.

That's what free market competition is about.
That's why we have $300+ Supertech pistons.

neogenesis2004 07-12-2010 08:38 PM

You can also just call wiseco and order the same exact pistons directly from them for the regular price they charge.

...and the $300 Supertech and $300 rods seem to get the job done for every single person using them.

Blame BP.

lordrigamus 07-13-2010 02:48 AM

But the FM ones are the strongest evar. I don't know if it's worth the extra though.

$484 at No Limit Motorsports. That's where I bought mine from. Damn near the same price as when I purchased them. Not affiliated.

More info on this?

*edit* Nevermind, didn't check the FM main page. Found it.

Splitime 07-13-2010 09:43 AM

Fuck the overpriced bullshit. People that are rolling in dough can go ahead and overpay. Fine by me

jeff_man 07-13-2010 11:09 AM

no fm on my car, but i'm just a whore for another other priced boost dealer

Pitlab77 07-13-2010 11:32 AM

The only FM part I had was on my 92, and that was a used link bought 2nd hand. I dont mind paying for a quality part, but I do mind overpaying.

JayL 07-13-2010 12:11 PM

If I was in the market for a set of pistons I'd call them and ask for some details about the increase in price. Especially if it's the same product you can get elsewhere for $200 cheaper. They do have a following, but even they know that most customers will shop things around before ordering. Most likely they have a valid reason for the increase and I'm sure they'd be happy to explain it if someone was to call.

jtothawhat 07-13-2010 02:01 PM

It's because of that bad ass ceramic coating they put on the top of the piston dome. :fawk:

miata2fast 07-13-2010 04:52 PM

I know that some of their prices are rather high, however, I find that the customer service is very good. I personally do not buy engine internals from them. You can get the same brand and part numbers from other shops for less. I do buy other goodies from FM, and like doing business with them.:2cents:
