Default Mechanical Solution to wheel hop?

Last weekends event was a little cold (40s) on an asphault lot. We got pretty bad wheel hop on a couple of the starts. I know we can launch softer and be okay. I am not looking for "put wheelie bars on that bad boy" kind of suggestions, but, short of that I am pretty open. It's an autocross car, so wrinkle wall slicks are out as well.

You may have seen my EMU launch control thread, still getting quarter second pulses so thats not going to be the silver bullet either.

Anyone have the solution?

I'm not sure wheelie bars would work anyway. Aren't those just for solid rear axles on leaf springs?

Oh wait, I am a dumbass... I was thinking about 'ladder bars'

Beatrush offers a rear triangle brace that locks the diff to the PPF and body alot better. I ran one for awhile and it all but killed my wheel hop. I also has MS diff mounts and RS Aizawa mount spacers.

Only disadvantage I can think of is having to get under the car to look at that awesome piece of work.

I like that thing. Can you post a link to the source?

I need to get a clarification on the SM/2 rules and want to reference it.

The rules say

Since there is already a brace from side to side that this replaces the only stiffing it could provide would be to the differential and PF but since those both attach to the chassis via rubber mounts I think it's legal. Of course that's what I want to think. Any other opinions?

And than prepare for gear noise. My RX-7 had a diff mounted to the floor and that biatch was loud!

I'd rather have more gear noise than broken ring gear.

I'm thinking about having ETD making me a set of traction bars similar to what they use on the FWD Honda's. Probably will attempt it in the spring.

Does that Beatrush setup include reinforcements going the length of the car, or just the triangular brace? What is it made of? Does it increase NVH significantly?

stiff mounts and he'll be braking the differential housing every few months. the mounting arms is so fragile that the prepped CSP Miatas do it quite often even with 140 lbs/ft of torque ...

he better carries a spare differential housing all the time - he'll need it

I doubt you'll get away with this being legal

i have mmr's engine and diff mounts. And i still wheel hop.If you have old saucy bushings they could be enough to make it wheel hop. I'd say replace all your bushings....

New Superpro bushings, and the swaybar has been disconnected for a year. My new codriver is just getting used to the car, so I was looking for ways to make launching easier for him.
