mediablasting intercooler???
my intercooler is looking pretty rough, ive cleaned and cleaned with no avail. i have easy acess to remove it right now since motor is out of the car. Is it a stupid idea to media bast it??
ive researched, and only came across peoples opinions on what might happen, looking for a yes, i did and it worked great, or a no, thats a horrid idea. low pressure, soft media, tape inlet and outlet really well, should be fine, right? ic's see 150mph on the front of cars alll day long, in dirt and dust and rocks etc, i think they can handle it. Thanks!! |
and have you seen an IC core after driving on the track at those speeds?
|
nope
|
i imagine i could get my machine shop to tank it for cheap...
better idea? |
yes tank.
no media blast. unless you hate all the exterior fins/turbulators and want to bend all of them at once and turn the intercooler into a super awesome paper weight |
I'd dip it in a solution of crystal drain cleaner and water, caustic soda, lye, whatever the hell you want to call it. Read up on what you are doing first so you don't melt your face off, or completely melt the intercooler. Always add acid, and all that you know.
It eats bugs, and it eats aluminum oxide. Stains will level out, but your endtanks won't be polished any more. |
