I'm working with Energy Suspension on urethane motor mounts for Miatas.

As part of their R&D they want to see examples of how/where the stock mounts fail.

Over the years, I've seen many mounts where the metal brackets bent and the rubber tore away from the metal, but I've always tossed them.

I'd appreciate your help with this project by donating your 1990-2005 used/torn mounts for ES to inspect.

I'll give you my FedEx account # to use so it won't cost you anything.

Hopefully my motor will be done in a couple weeks Bill. If you still need some then I'll send you mine. I'm putting in my MMR ones.

I got one for you. It's not completely ripped but it's torn about half way.

Do really need it physically shipped or would pictures work?

If you absolutely need it shipped it's not a problem, I should be able to send it this week sometime.

Will the urethane mounts be less stiff than the delrin units MMR-direct makes? If not you should just get ahold of him, he is local to me and makes his mounts in house, that includes the rear diff bushings as well.

I think Delrin is too rigid for bushing material.

Seem to be the cheapest mounts available when looking for something stiffer than the mazdacomp units.

The MMR mounts are made from polyethylene,which are basically hard plastic.
I would never put those on my car.

Polyurethane is the way to go.

I see you're right about the polyethylene, I never did read the specs on the website, just assumed they were delrin from what my friends that use them had told me. Shows what they know I suppose. I figure the UHMW was a cheaper option for him when compared to delrin.

Those mmr's are frigin stiff man.

MMR for the win! and for that price you cant beat them!

What about for the rear end? the diff mounts be to rough?

For those interested in rear diff mounts, I just installed my delrin diff bushings from http://www.iscracing.net/Miata_Page.htm

They are machined to perfect size and went right in. really stiffened up the diff to the subframe. Only downside is you can really hear the little sounds that the rear end makes now. *shrug* I also dont have a rear deck/carpet/top installed, so that might contribute to the noise

I am looking at a set right now that have yet to be installed and they are definitely some stiff pieces. From what I can tell they are almost the same as plastic cutting board material. Should not be a big deal for the diff though as I shimmed out my stock mounts with big washers for a while which made them equivalant to metal bushings and the noise wasn't bad except it would hum a lot between 50 and 70mph.
