Oh yeah, I forgot to mention: Leafy, you're a moron. Mazda isn't going to create some one off "American Safety Special" that will balloon the weight. The only safety change is the hood risers on the Euro cars for pedestrian safety.

I challenge you to find a car that Mazda sells in the Japanese, European, and American markets that has a significant difference between the safety options offered; i.e. - a claim where the Japanese Mazda3 has 4 airbags whereas the American one has 6. If you could tabulate the curb weights and price as well, that'd be great.

Its not marketing, its the health and safety people. Its all manufacturers, not just Mazda. They know that US drivers continue to NOT WEAR SEATBELTS so they pile in extra air bags and padding and **** to try to keep these dumbfucks alive, thus leading to a heavier car.

Now THIS is something I'd like to see. I binge watched TopGear on Netflix as soon as I found out there was going to be a licensing issue with the BBC and just managed to squeak them all in. I'm up to I think series 20? Whatever Netflix has atm.

Americans wear seat belts at a higher rate than any other country I've ever visited...

...and those who don't wear seat belts aren't safety conscious enough to worry about 23 airbags anyways.

Leafy, you're not a moron (right now) and I propped your last post and 100% agree. The car is going to be fantastic but I don't think it is going to sell well....

...particularly if it starts at $30k.

Yeah when I first saw it yesterday I had to cover my mouth so no one at work would hear me laugh. On the other hand, its supposed to be getting a 200hp abarth version. And the Fiat version is getting a wop motor.

So, it will go like hell, when it runs. Which means half the time.

From what I understood that image was just an artist's rendering. So not the official design.

It is impossible for an Italian sports car to look like a fat chick or anime. Few cultures have a better appreciation for the female form. It'll be hot. I have faith. Would be even better with a Honda engine.

160. But in the 4C it makes more. But it's a fun crackly poppy job that would make for a hoot of an Italian roadster.

I think Fiat is coming around in the reliability department. My wife's 500 has 120K on it, and so far the only issues we've had have been a wheel bearing replacement and a freak passenger-side curtain airbag deployment when it was -40 outside.

Edit: both of those issues Fiat repaired for free BTW. Plus fiat has the equivalent of dodge's maxcare, which covers any mechanical issues for the owners lifetime.
