About which part?
I am fully planning on getting an ND sometime in the future, probably a 2017 or 2018 model. As long as the ECU situation is figured out I am planning on boosting it.
Overall the body looks to be in reasonable shape. I don't need front or rear bumpers to design a manifold and downpipe and most of the exhaust. It would also give me a parts car for when I stupidly blow up the motor due to finding the limits of the sky active motor.

ALLOFIT
-It's not going to sell for 3100, probably more like 13000
-It would cost a boatload to fix unless you sat on it for a year or two, maybe more
-It would take at least that long to part it too
-It'd be insanely stupid to buy just for R&D on a budget turbo setup
-??????
-Need I go on?

Hard Top
In case we did no mention it here already, we are designing a sealed, glass window hard top. Retail distribution channel TBD but it will probably be factory direct, us and Goodwin offering the top. It'll be made in California. Design goals are to clear a full SCCA legal roll bar, specifically Blackbirds GT3 being prototyped in my car this week. Our top will be wider and longer than the soft top, a bunch more room for helmets, FIA seats with shoulder wings and big drivers. It'll be fully sealed like an OEM top and use the OEM latch mechanism. In back, there are hidden hooks under the body color plastic covers on the deck. Side mounts unknown. We'll know more once we have my soft top out.
We're hoping to have a complete gelcoat top for

We hope to retain the OEM 3pt but I have my doubts. Not so much for my benefit as I'm OK using the 6pts on a daily basis but for GT3 customers that may not ever install race harnesses.

1. Make it legal for SCCA Solo 1 / NASA TT.
Completely legal, not "claimed to be a legal bar even though it is not really" as apparently almost every manufacturer did with the NC.
To date, there is only one NC roll bar that is 100% legal and it is the Blackbird Fabworx NC GT3.
2. Ignore every constraint related to keeping the car "nice" (carpet, plastic trim, wind deflector etc..).
With the NC it was basically everything behind the seats.
3. Build a roll bar that takes advantage of the full size of the interior of the car.
This might not mean much to you without looking at a size comparison, but our NC GT3 is probably a good foot (!) wider than the roll bars other manufacturers make for that chassis.
To give you a rough comparison on the ND, the difference at shoulder height between the soft top compatible bar we're currently building and the ND GT3 that's going into Emilio's car is going to be almost a foot and a half!
4. Make it tall enough for tall guys, within reason.
It's a small car and if you're 6'5" you're still going to want racing seats to lower you down, but the ND GT3 will be a good bit taller than what the soft top allows.
5. The GT3 is made for track usage so harness bar is a given, but we plan on retaining the 3 point belts as well.
They will have to be relocated to mounting locations on the roll bar, not just the upper guides (like the NC) but the entire reel.
Unlike the NC where the reels are located inside a cubby in the rear bulkhead, the ND reels are bolted to the side brace which will be eliminated in the GT3 bar.
The side braces and the reels are retained at their factory position with our street oriented bar.
6. Form follows function, but the bar is going to look as bitchin' as the previous GT3 models
For the sake of discussion, here's the NC model -

1. Street oriented bar which retains full interior and soft top.
This bar will only require minor trimming on the plastics in a similar fashion to the NA / NB bars that we sell.
The biggest constraint here is the soft top as it severely limits the height and width, but even with the roll bar being relatively small it is still a huge upgrade to the stock Aluminum hoops (which I can flex by hand... WTF..).
This bar will have a harness bar integrated into the structure as well retaining the OEM seat belts (untouched).
This bar is already in the works, we have the Goodwin racing car torn apart here and we've been working on our prototype for a few days now.
Pics coming soon!
2. ND GT3 that I discussed in the post above.
Ditch the soft top and make room for track oriented safety!

aside from being cramped inside, the torque delivery of the s2k is the single biggest reason I don't own one. I absolutely love them otherwise.
it also happens to be the biggest reason I love me my vette's
I also would never have a long term n/a project miata for any reason ever. In fact, if I couldn't boost or swap a miata, I would never own a miata either. Ever.
Mazda really worked on avoiding the torque delivery deficit with the ND, and I'm sure we can all agree that we really appreciate it.

And why do you keep comparing it to a car that has been out of production for six years? Nobody is cross shopping a new ND and a new S2000 because there is no such thing as a new S2000. And the MSRP was $38,000 six years ago. pommes pommes de terre

Well, with two 250 pound strippers worth of extra steel in the car I would expect it to have a massive trunk.<br />
