Default anyone ever have a clutch MASTER cylinder go bad?

just curious. i bought a new one today. man I love the "other" rosenthal mazda. order online at discount prices and the parts delivery guy brings it by the same day. funky fresh.

so when I get back from whOrlando, I'll see if that's why my **** wont stay bled. (slave is only a few weeks old, braided steel line is a year, master cyl is 80k miles)

wah.

Yep, mine went out at a gas station one day. I pushed in the clutch and the master decided it wanted to let the clutch out for me. I was was pissed because I had no idea what had happened. I started it in first gear and went home shifting without the clutch. I could hear air escaping when i depressed the clutch. I rebuilt it for $13 or w/e and it's still working 5k miles later. I don't recommend rebuilding failed cylinders and the next time around i'll buy a new one just because they're painted up nice. Mine looks like crap.
What is the "other" rosenthal?

Mine went out as I was replacing my clutch, donno how. Once the clutch was in I had no pedal. The cylinder in the master was seized.

Mine went last month - about 55K miles. The good news is it was about the easiest repair I've done in years - took about 25 minutes including bleeding, and you can do it standing up.

good to know it's an easy swap. the part was cheap enough to do it as a "hopefully it'll work".

I wonder if the extra stress from the higher force clutch is responsible for putting stress on it.

or maybe i should stop using that sand-based brake fluid...

Mileage and age of fluid/lack of flushing contribute to the clutch mc failing. Phil and I pulled, rebuilt, and reinstalled/bled his very quickly.

they are notorious for failure...everyone i know is shocked that mine has not died after 145K, the slave did at 80K, been good since then, OEM clutch
but when i do change to ACT i intend to do some preventative maintnance and go ahead and drop a new one in now so it does not die during break in...
it is recommended to change the master when you change the slave they usually go soon one after another

When I did a clutch swap, I just rebuilt the slave cylinder at the same time. It was so cheap and easy there wasn't a reason not to. Havent' done the clutch mc, but I have the rebuild kit sitting in the toolbox. Probably should just for peace of mind.
