On the Enhanced MS2, it actually works. You need to dial in the CODEWORD from the immobilizer module. Once it's set, the car won't start without the proper matching keys.

No way!

I dont expect to get it to work, I just want the light off.
I havnt looked at the diagrams yet or got a multimeter out, do you mind telling me the easy way to get the light simply to turn off?

Is setting this up proprietary information? I have a self-built Megasquirt 3x with patch harness, and i'd like to get it working if possible. I personally like the idea of a functional immobilizer if I can get it working with the Megasquirt.

I'm pretty certain that this functionality is unique to the units Rev builds, which contain non-standard hardware and firmware. While in theory you* could implement this functionality on a standard MS3, I doubt greatly that you could just load Rev's code onto one and have it work.

* = assuming you are a competent software engineer familiar with the MS3 codebase

Reverant 05-05-2015 11:16 AM

The MS3x doesn't have the hardware required to communicate with the Mazda immobilizer.

Thanks Rev, Joe. Is this something that can be added via add-on board or something way more proprietary?

Reverant 05-05-2015 11:45 AM

Yes, it could potentially be added via an add-on board. If I get at least 20 people into this, I can make it happen.

Chiburbian 05-05-2015 11:52 AM

I'm in. Does this require custom firmware as is mentioned by Joe? How does this work for future updates? Do we wait for you to release an update that incorporates your changes or what should I expect?

Reverant 05-05-2015 12:16 PM

It works with the stock MS2/MS3 firmware.
