Default New miata accessory :-D

So since I'm not seeing the BS forum here ya go:

Finally got this - been looking for a while now and tired of paying for tows (tow from work to home = 140$), not to mention how many other uses I have for it:

Name: trailerfront.jpg
Views: 35
Size: 59.9 KB

Pict taken with phone so it's sucky and doesn't do it justice but it's an 18'x8' bed - will haul my car and a couple of my friends bikes (sitting sideways at the front) to the gap and back to say the least :-) I added the E-Tracks (to hold the bikes/cargo down) and winch etc to make picking up the miata when it ***** itself easier. Haven't added yet but have 4 big D rings to run down the center and will prob add more E-Track. It's low to the ground to boot and has 5' ramps - no 2x10's needed hopefully. 7K capacity, has brakes etc.

Yeah I can't store this at my place (townhouse) but the inlaws are 2 mins down the road and really cool about letting me use their garage and parking area - they even entice me to come over by buying new tools... Couldn't ask for cooler inlaws :-)

Trailer ran 2600 (incl the spare tire and a serious hitch lock - not shown in the pict) I put another 1200 into it with the etrack system, winch/deep cycle battery(solar charged w/quick disconnect - since aparently you don't want to mount a solar panel on a trailer) and braking controller w/harness for the yukon (tow vehicle - has tow package and the 5.3L - pulls this easily and gas mileage doesn't really change much), tie downs, axle straps etc misc hardware. Wasn't cheap overall to get it to where I want it but will pay for itself. Best part is tax returns (yeah I didn't file for 2 years) but I did and now filing married joint returns + stimulus = paid off within a month. I really debated on putting this cash into the miata - but I got another car I've been fixing up for sale and those proceeds will go to the miata. So it's worked out well. Never thought I'd swing it but I'm happy with the results.

FYI: Insuring this thing is a friking nightmare in NC - I have to get the Yukon, Miata and trailer on a commercial policy since you can't put a trailer on a commercial policy in NC without a tow vehicle... Progressive is retarded, NC insurance law is retarded. Trailer is covered for liability only and thats when it's in tow - other than commercial policy there is no way to insure it against theft/damage etc..

And yeah I need to subscribe - I've been here since b4 the subscription thing - just haven't gotten around to it (new baby commin, high work load, car projects, house projects etc).

But dam if I don't miss the mountains - hopefully the trailer will help out there (bring family and kids-decouple trailer and give them (parents + kids) yukon to drive while we take the miata out for fun.
