My fuel pump might be on its last legs... oem or aftermarket?
Right now it seems like my fuel pump is dying. I'm going to test the pressure today to know for sure. Is there any reason at all to upgrade to a Wallbro instead of replacing with the OEM unit if I only plan on 200whp and I have a Megasquirt? The FAQ says the stock ecu will support 300hp. I can get an OEM fuel pump before next weekend's autrocross, but I'm not sure if I can get an aftermarket one...

a Wallbro 255 isnt really necessary, but one of the smaller ones maybe.... at that power, a stock rated pump would be MORE than sufficient.. But, I've heard they arent always the cheapest. i have a 255... but i dont NEED a 255... i planned on doing more, but ran out of funds at the time.
have you priced many pumps? |

i PERSONALLY would do the wallbro.... maybe one of the smaller ones though. i saw someone on here had a 220 or something like that... i havent looked much into them, since i already have the 255, and have no issues whatsoever.... besides shitloads of in-tank pressure when i release the gas cap. lol i know most of the fuel its pushing, is getting returned to the tank, but hopefully ill be able to use the full capabilities of the 255 this summer... just have some work to do.
i would get some other input from other members though... i am by no means an expert... im just 3 years out of automotive school, and dont work in the field, just use it all for my own pleasure. but like i said, i havent had any issues as of yet, and ive been on this pump for almost 4 years. see if anyone else has had issues.. if not, i would jump on it. if the pressure tests show that you DO in-fact need to replace the pump |
Deatschwerks DW200. Assuming you are in the lower 48, they should have no issues getting one to you before next weekend.

Well I don't think it's the fuel pressure... I found no abnormalities in the fuel pressure. I tested right after the fuel filter and saw 42psi off with F/P jumped to GND, 35psi idle, and it goes to 42psi when I tap the throttle. There should be plenty of fuel at the rail. Looks like I'm dealing with something else here...
