My new Gauges
Thought i'd share a little review and a few pics of gauges i got.
These are Koso gauges, they are made in Taiwan but the company is out of Canada. I had a Koso dash on one of my scooters and it worked really well. I found these gauges on ebay, but made a deal with a seller outside of ebay. The quality is awesome. The installation instructions are the best i have ever seen. They were super easy to follow and are very detailed. I got a 15psi (they have 30psi too) boost gauge and an EGT gauge. Both gauges are electronic and have controll boxes. The cool thing that you only have to wire one box for power and ing the other boxes can be pigybacked. Both gauges have peak and warning lights that are adjustable. The gauges come with all the hardware and bunch of extra wires for pigybacking. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_uzUzVzeT3VA/So...0/DSC_1191.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/_uzUzVzeT3VA/So...0/DSC_1194.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/_uzUzVzeT3VA/So...0/DSC_1195.JPG full sweep too :-P http://lh3.ggpht.com/_uzUzVzeT3VA/So...0/DSC_1196.JPG http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uzUzVzeT3VA/So...0/DSC_1197.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/_uzUzVzeT3VA/So...0/DSC_1198.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/_uzUzVzeT3VA/So...0/DSC_1199.JPG If you want to get one or two PM me. The price is $75 for a gauge. I got two with EVERYTHING for 147 shipped. That includes the probe for the EGT too. :: KOSO NORTH AMERICA :: Gauges, LED bars, Accessories for Motorcycles, ATV, Cars, Scooters and snowmobile |
Why bother installing gauges when you put them out of useful eyesight?
|
seems to me gauges need to be where you can see em hence why i run mine in the air vents it does look pretty though.
|
I can see them very well there. I dont want to rice out the car with gauges in the piller. Looks dumb.
|
Can you see the road at the same time?

Gauges look nice. Not too bad of a price, might check it out for the EGT. Not really a fan of the whole "Control Box" thing, last thing I need is more boxes in my car.

i know what you mean. I actually would like to have them on a pillar, but just cant do it because i know all the rice boys have their volt meters and vacuum gauges there. And it just screams "lets street race". I am probably going to move the boost and wideband somewhere i can see them better, but i have no idea where. I really dont want to get A pillar pod tho.

It's one thing to not like the way it looks, but just because the ricers do it doesn't mean it's rice. People were installing gauges on the dash and pillars in their muscle cars long before imports were popular. Just sayin... |

I've wanted to mold something similar to this for our cars (might block some of the view to the fuel and coolant temp gauges though):

Gauges below your hands on the steering wheel are 100% worthless.

Dammit Taras, I wish I had seen these before I bought my gauges two days ago. |
Those look great! If i ever redo mine i'll look for those first.
+1 gauges below the vent level cannot be seen when both hands are on the wheel ,however for DD i have no problem keeping an eye on mine but they are where the radio was so it is a little higher. I have the most important above my arms. boost on column and A/Fr in vent, EGT, oil lbs, and water below, not installed in pic though https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/mem...ms/114/512.jpg |

I agree with that statement for the track, but position is much less critical for street use.

i like it.

Their website lists that EGT Gauge for $206 and you got it for 75? Thats one HELL of a markup if hes selling them for 75 a gauge?? He'll sell MORE to you/us for the same price?
One nice thing I can comment about the controller, at least most gauges with external controllers usually have nice wiring harnesses already made so you don't have to screw with that stuff so much.. |

The guy told me that Koso north America is trying to unload their invetory for sone reason. So these prices won't last long.
|
That screams "going out of business" to me...

Not to knock their quality without knowing anything about the company....but before I buy any gauges, I'd want to know how accurate they are.
I had a set of Autometers in my WRX. While getting tuned at TurboXS, they noticed the boost gauge read ~ 3lbs less than real levels. So when I saw 16 lbs, it was really 19 lbs. So saving a few bucks versus an accurate gauge....I'd rather drop the extra cash and prevent an expensive repair. I ended up w/ 2 Defi gauges and the AEM UEGO which I did the A-pillar install. Not my #1 choice...but the NA Miatas don't have any clean, easy to see, mods for gauge placement. I, too had the dual gauges behind the steering wheel...dunno why there isn't one on the Miata. |
