My new Joyo Radiator leaks
Just put it in. Leaks. Not at the cap, not at the hoses. Anyone have/hear of any leaking issues with these? To make sure I am not out of my mind, I will get it pressure tested since I took it out of the car already

You sure the drain valve on the bottom is nice and tight?
|
Yes- thanks for asking though. Initially it was, lets say, not as tight as it should have been. Water was not coming out of the drain, the cap or cap area, the overflow hose, or at the top of bottom hose. I also pulled the fans and had the car on the ramps and had my head with a light right in the front of the radiator. It was leaking from somewhere in the core in the middle of the radiator, or so it seemed. I also tried 2 caps to no avail. Once It warmed up and pressurized the leak grew faster.

The Joyo knock-offs have been known to have lax quality control...

Nice. Next time, I'll spell Toyo correctly!

I would say have a look at the are between the rad. and the a/c stuff and make sure you don't have a bracket poking at the radiator. I had that happen on my 99 with the 55mm core. I used JB on it and it was fine for years. |
