I've listened to everyones advice about rebuilding my 1.6 or swapping to a 1.8. I'm going to go with the advice to swap in a 99 engine.

I have a working LINK. Would you stay with the LINK after the upgrade or switch to a modern EMS (adaptronic, AEM, or MSPNP)? Why?

I didn't like the non-realtime tuning of the Link. Plus all the extra features of the newer EMS' is a nice thing to have.

Would you expound on the "new features"? I only have experience with the link. I'm aware that better resolution will allow more fluid control of timing and fuel. Real time tuning would be nice. I've worked without real time tuning, so it's not that difficult, just more time consuming. What makes the change worth 1k - 2k. That's the real question.

If your link is running good and you like it, dont bother.

Part of all those eMS things are about keeping up with being cool too.

If something works good and you are happy about it, why change it?

It's no like you will make bogs of money by selling the Link either.

This is what I'm trying to sort out. WANT vs NEED I hear a lot of people say that the LINK isn't good. Is it not good or old? If you don't have a new system, then of course, go for a new system and no tthe Link. My Link works, I'm wanting arguments to keep it or sell it based on performance gains. Not "cool" factor. Waiting might be worth while as more used units might hit the market.

New feature comparisons are available lots of places, but for me, the real time map updating, higher resolution, and greater control of every function was worth the $600 price difference between what I paid for my AEM EMS and what I sold my Link ECU for.

Did my car start up and drive with the Link? Yep.

If you don't know why you need new engine management, then you don't need it.

Given your current setup, I don't think it's worth the cost.
