I like purple as a color. Like a lot.
That car is gross and very very very much misses the mark of what this site is about. |
We are sorry you dont like one of our customer's car. Can you inform us on how we missed the "mark"?
|
Hey the color is awesome and it looks clean. I wish all my cars were that color. :)
This is THE Miata site for performance. Swag/yolo/hotboi/driftnasty cars won't get you any meaningful clicks here. Vague "We have deals contact us for things!" posts probably won't get you anything either. Just constructive feedback. :) You seem like a nice dude, figured i'd try to help you out. Basically, maybe post less like you're a dude in your garage with an Autoplicity account, and more like you have specific parts that are interesting to those on this site that want to make their cars faster, not just get mad smashes on that like button on social media. |
As a Miata parts dealer we simply want to inform forum members of our presence and highlight the products and services that we offer. We are automotive enthusiasts as well and know that parts must be purchased from somewhere; we are simply connecting with the community. Thank you for your feedback. If you ever need any parts for your Miata please let us know.

Cool site. I was under the impression that you were more focused on Miata components, so it definitely caught me off guard when I clicked on your website link. I will be honest, I was a little pushed away due to that, but regardless welcome to the forum and I hope you see some good feedback from the site!

Thank you. We are an import performance parts site with a little more emphasis on Nissans. Everyone involved has mostly been around and built Nissan vehicles the most, but our knowledge and passion for other import vehicles is extensive. I hope this did not turn you away completely! We absolutely respect the Miata and plan to continuously add more products for the Miata platform.

^It's like advertising using figure skaters to a bunch of hockey players.
You do seem nice. Does anyone who races use your components? Do you sponsor anyone? We don't drift or do things that get judged for style points here, and generally look down on those who do. We are focused on function. We race on tracks, do open track days, sometimes autocross, and sometimes build performance street cars. It is good to feature reliability and performance modifications to this group. I hope this helps you market more effectively to this forum. |
Thank you for your input, we did not realize that drifting was below other types of racing. There is a lot of function, reliability and performance involved in drifting. We do sponsor two drift cars but we guess that is not what is wanted here. We are here to support everyone in whatever they do. The fact that one form of Motorsport is looked down upon on these forums is mind blowing to us. To each their own. Thanks for the advice.

Function? LAWL

You used the word racing. I think that's part of the disconnect. Racing involves doing something more quickly or reaching a goal prior to other competitors. There is no such goal in drifting. Drifting is an event where judges score competitors, like figure skating or gymnastics. Neither the Boston Marathon or the 12 Hours of Sebring have judges scoring competitors for style and technique.
As for Motorsports, yes, we are very broadly supportive of Motorsports and many forms. Everything from hydroplane boat racing to the Reno Air Races. I would even watch people race riding lawn mowers. But what you get around here on a daily basis when people mention drifting are high school and college kids with no money destroying Miatas. They drive the price of used cars and components up and the availability down. Have you tried to buy a good clean 240sx? Miatas have a low polar moment of inertia making them a lousy choice for a drift car anyway. This makes them much more likely to be unnecessarily destroyed. The low polar moment of inertia specifically makes them excellent road race cars. One of the other reasons is we are very much a function over form community. It needs to work well and it needs to make sense and we have a very low signal-to-noise ratio here with regard to bullshit. When people make claims we ask for data. When people postulate, we conduct tests and inquiries to reach conclusions. Lots of engineers here and lots of racers and track day guys. Every forum, every group of people, has its own collective personality and that is generally what you are looking at here. I'm certainly not mad at you. Just wanted to help you to better reach your audience. So that's the why. I'm not a fan of promoting Miatas as drift cars. I also don't like it when people use a crescent wrench as a hammer. |
We understand where you are coming from. There absolutely a good amount of people out there who give drifting a bad name. Although Miatas are cheap and a decent platform for younger people who want to get into grassroots drifting. As you said the price of a decent 240sx has been inflated ridiculously. We don't think discrediting it is appropriate though. There is plenty of skill involved just as much as there is in other types of motor sports. Yes, in drifting there is no goal to get to a point before the other competitors but there still is competition. We are here to promote our business and make a relationship with miataturbo members. We feel that this is unneeded just because a car that we used for advertisements was not something that you personally like. We can promise you that there are plenty of people who know their stuff and drift the hell out of Miatas. We are not all about drifting, it was one picture posted just for attention. People are going to do what they want with their Miatas and there is really no way to change that, not everybody is as knowledgeable. We understand that you are not a fan of Miatas as drift cars, that does not mean other people aren't. We are not taking offense at all, we are just simply trying to inform and advertise our company. We appreciate any feedback.

Crescent hammer cries a little when it sees the word "drift".
