NA rear subframe

So I am modifying a 92 subframe to eventually swap into a 94. They look the same, they take the same suspension components, for the most part, though there is a year split (between 92 and 94) on FM for their Stage 2.5 kit. Not sure what the difference is there.

I care just about the subframe itself, and whether 94 suspension components will bolt to it. I think I am OK, but want to get some confirmation from my MT.N brethren before I start cutting and welding.

I have switched with no problems. You will just loose some bracing points.

ZX-Tex 07-18-2010 12:42 PM

OK thanks for the quick reply. I can always modify the bracing as needed.

According to this they are interchangeable

Yep, the only difference is bracing.

Yeah OK I see that now. No tie in points for the lower subframe brace. I'll make something... better... stronger... faster...

Anyone know about NB to NA interchangeability?

There's a whole MS rear sub w/ brakes, diff, etc. which I can get my hands on for a reasonable price.

Curious if it would bolt up or not.

I was just talking with a fellow Miata enthusiast about that. There are slight differences but neither I nor he can be more specific. Sorry.

I have put an entire NB rear subframe into an NA with no problems

I looked at an NB vs NA once, the only major difference that I could see is the location of the exhaust hangars. I also know the distance between the diff mounting studs is wider? on the NB by ~.060". Not enough to throw off a stock diff but enough that V8R makes two different diff mounts. I don't know about suspension pickup points.
