NB headlight trade out...

Im tired of my NB stock projectors robbing me of color from my HID's. I know the early model NB's have different headlights. The question is..how different? Different enough that they would be a bitch to swap?? Or does anybody know of any place to buy aftermarkets with no projectors?

also, I notice MS models have blackhousings..any differences there considering a swap?

chicksdigmiatas 03-09-2010 12:48 AM

So, you could probably paint yours black. Ebay has HID kits.

boileralum 03-09-2010 01:02 AM

The color of your HIDs should be of your least concern...

I dont feel like ripping apart my lights. Plus..Id rather have the early NB model lights with no projectors for brighter light and nicer color

It should bolt right in, but the bumper might not fit perfectly. I find it strange you want to use the older type headlights compared to the projectors, cause i swapped mine for the projector ones, like most people prefer.

Love~My~MX5 03-09-2010 01:36 AM

Well like I say in my other posts here..my projectors are actually screwing me.. I just want plain halogens in which I will stick my HID's. what is the difference with the bumper?? I keep seeing that

turbotyla 03-09-2010 02:20 AM

wow you are a fucking retard.

you should not have HID in a halogen housing you will blind someone and get hit.

the color should be the last concern. you get way better lighting through a projector.

i got my nb with blue hids in it and just switched to a more oem color.

someone jump on this, If this guy is really this stupid. TRADE HIM NOW

Marc D 03-09-2010 02:48 AM

I have my old stockers if you want a straight up trade. Let me know.

Love~My~MX5 03-09-2010 02:51 AM

I just want to know how much trouble it would be to get the non projectors on..

turbotyla 03-09-2010 04:07 AM

you will have to cut the bumper and then beat your self in the face with both sets of headlights until they look like they will fit.

HONESTLY, For one search been done in reverse so many times.

Where is hustler,,,, lol

Love~My~MX5 03-09-2010 12:33 PM

Ok, so 99,00 model lights are a bitch to switch..what about msm's from a say 04?

RotorNutFD3S 03-09-2010 01:12 PM

MSM lights will be a direct swap. I don't think there's any trimming necessary to put 99-00 on an NB2, but I do think that you will be left with a gap. Usually it's the 99-00 owners that have to trim things to fit the 01-05 headlight assemblies. I also highly advise against putting HIDs in a housing made for halogen bulbs. If you're not happy with the current color output, change the temp of the HID bulbs you have now.

So whats the big deal with putting HID in halogens...everybody keeps saying NO. Ive seen so many cars with HIDs in their halogens including my car crew. They look amazing and I dont feel blinded by them. Low cars dont have to worry about blinding other drivers. Normal sedans blind the shit out of me!!!

See, I already thought you were cool...now I just adore you.

Love~My~MX5 03-09-2010 01:42 PM

dude. what are you talkin about....lmao. Im in a car crew. some of them have HID in their regular ass housings and it looks badass. "low cars"...lowered..dont blind people. they get blinded, me included.....
so, you adore me. I dont get it.

gospeed81 03-09-2010 01:49 PM

I was being sarcastic...

Car "crew" sounds funny, but if you're talking about your car club I apologize.

I despise all the folks running around with chinese HIDs in their stock housings, with complete disregard for other drivers. Halogen reflectors scatter a lot of light when HIDs are put in them. This is not ride height dependent, but is more of an angle issue.

It may not bother you, but it does bother the other 90% of us on the road.

Please only use HIDs in projectors...which focus the light in a level band that only hits the road.

This is coming from someone that has actually tried it. My wife wanted brighter lights in her small car. I put them in, and yes, it was brighter. I made her give them up though when I saw how bad the scatter was, and told her to be content with Silver Star halogens.

Some reflectors are better than others...but most are horribly designed for HIDs.

Also, if you're concerned about color, you must not really be concerned about light. The bluer your HIDs are, the less actual light output you're getting. Do some research.

And remember kids, there's only one letter difference between HIDS and AIDS.
