nb move hvac contols down

Has anyone ever moved the HVAC panel DOWN to the bottom slot. I want to remove the air bag switch [ will just leave both airbags always working] and move the HVAC into that bottom slot.

Need to do this to install some gauges and some old school audio gear.

Thanks in advance.

[P.S. I bought an HVAC controller off ebay for $24.00 so I know what it looks like.]

I feel like I'm missing something.

Doesn't it already come in the bottom slot?

Just checked mine in the garage. Yep. It's on the bottom in mine. I'm assuming he means he wants to re locate to where the air bag switch is. I thought the HVAC stuff was mechanical inside.

the airbag switch thing isn't in a slot. its just a panel. and its like 1" tall if that. I suppose you can hack the everliving daylights outa that area and lower the hvac some, but it will be a pain and look utterly stupid like that.

at least how I'm imagining it anyway

Yes, I know, very difficult.

But:

"Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, Or what's a heaven for?" [Robert Browning - "Andrea del Sarto", line 98.]

I am trying to make room for a 1/2 inch high DIN wide Alpine 3311 Equalizer. Maybe just move the HVAC UP one slot and hack out 1/2 inch of the air bag panel?? Put the Alpine 7909 in the HVAC slot?

Just had a thought. Maybe I should design and patent a replacement panel?

Anyway ---- Question remains. Has anyone ever done it?

If you could cad and had access to a 3d printer it would be easy.

I would put the HVAC controls where the shift boot is, move the shift boot to the center of the steering wheel. Put the radio in the trunk, then trim a little to get your 1/2 DIN space. It's been done.

Okay, I now understand that OP is a silly old man trying to do something weird.

Sounds way more logical than this stupid thread.

Dude its an equilizer, You set it and forget it, wire it in the back set it up hanging outside the dash, zip tie it up next the the heat box somewhere behind the dash.

What? I constantly tune my EQ during a song or when I change stations, just like I constantly tune my ECU.

exactry

when britney spears or the spice girls come on im like " CHYYYYYYEAAAHHH THAT'S MY SONG, LEMME SET THE EQUALIZER GIRLLLLL"

Not a bad idea since it's probably an automatic

concealer404 08-07-2013 01:42 PM

I'm not understanding.

Just put a damn aftermarket head unit in it and EQ like a bad man to your heart's content.

OR.

Aftermarket single din, and you'll still have room for a FULL DIN EQ! FUCK YEAH. ALL THE THINGS.
