Need advice fresh built engine

Hi all, here is my setup.

2001, GT2560 12PSI on a fresh Built engine ( JE 9:1 piston ETD rods )

The question is that I have put about 250 miles on that engine ( mostly on the dyno... ) yes on the dyno. First oil change on dino oil was @ 30 miles and the second oil change right after the dyno @ 250 miles still on dino oil ( shell Rotella).

I have a track day (Calabogie Motorsoport ) this comming weekend and I wonder If it would be wise to switch to Full Synt. oil before that track day or I should stick with the dino oil......

For a track day? Id definitely want to be on good syn oil by then.

Some say once the motor is started and idles for a few minutes it is broken in.

This is my tought too, it should be broken in.... and I have beaten the crap out of it for the first couple miles.....:eek5:

so people tend to say to put at least 1k miles before switching over.... this is why I am asking.... I guess many here with built engine would know better than me on this one..

I say put at least 2K on it before switching over. My opinion. With 250 miles on it it's still breaking in a little. Break in tapers off, but it takes a while before it's fully done. It isn't done yet, so keep it on dino oil for now.

Ok then I will monitor oil pressure and oil temp very close to ensure I am keeping the engine best lubricated during this track event.

thanks

I think he meant to put more miles on it before the track. I'd be more worried about tracking my car with cheap ass oil than my motor "still breaking in".

Make sure you check the oil level often too.

I'm pretty tempted to run the white bottle Rotella in my car all the time because it's awesome. After 250miles you are fine to switch I think.

Wow, necro-thread. I bet he's got plenty of miles on the car now.

What is white-bottle rotella? Is that the dino oil? I'm trying to decide what to use since I'm tired of Mobil-1.

Haha. That motor has probably been broken in, tracked, and blown up by now.
