It never ends; Help diagnose this noise, and embed my video

It never seems to end. The last time I drove the car I noticed a strange noise when I shut the car off. I only hear it when I rev the engine and let off the gas. It sounds like sticking a plastic stick into a rotating fan. More like a vibration noise, but I can't see anything that would be rattling together in the areas that it sounds like the noise is coming from. I thought it was coming from the turbo/DP area, then it sounded like it was coming form the exhaust manifold/head, then it sounded like it is coming from inside the DP. It just depends on where I am listening. The engine seems to run fine, but I want to make sure that this isn't a serious problem.

27s is a good spot to listen for the noise

I tried wrapping the following with the youtube function:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/LeM0OohdNUM?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/LeM0OohdNUM?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

To me it sounds like the gears from the oil pump, exactly the same sound I had when it blew up, but I could be wrong. Grab a rachet extension and use it to pin point the sound.

In moments like this its when it is gold to have one of those sound amplifiers I have talked about here.

If you say it is from the downpipe, maybe a washer that its loose and at certain rpms it can be heard.

Dont move the damn camera so much, always record with slow movements and pause every now and then.

Is it possible to repeat the sound and make it steady?

I do have an electronic det can that I can move around. It was my micro cam, so I had to hold on to it. I was trying to orient to get the best sound.

It better not be oil pump gears since they are the billet gears. Oil pressure remained constant.

I can't make the sound steady. I only hear it when the motor is slowing down after being revved up.

Good news. Turns out it was something simple. The new WG actuator arm did not fit over the WG flapper rod. So I had to drill it to fit. My drill bit was a hair too big. Just enough to allow the fitting to vibrate on the flapper rod.

I thought my DE even was in jeopardy.

Awesome, Good job!

Man I know how it is when there is weird freakin sound from nowhere. Luckily it was something simple and gives you a reason to celebrate.

I know it. I kept telling my wife that she has no idea how relieved I was when I found out it was nothing. When you hear a noise like that you immediately envision pulling the motor and finding that your $2k has been reduced to garbage.

Hah, I was about to give you the solution but you beat me to it. I had this same exact problem.

I thought it sounded like an exhaust leak. Anyways, I know the feeling. I was driving down the road and something that smelled like burning trans fluid was in front of me. But you know how your not sure if its you? Well i turned off and i still smelled it. So i pulled over and checked every square inch of my car. By the time i was done checking i got back in and the smell was gone. Lesson learned.
