New to Cali
Hows it going!
Im in the Marine Corps im being stationed in California and i was wondering how hard it is to have a turbocharged miata in California. How are the laws and regulations? I heard that they suck THanks |
Where's your Home of Record? (The city/state from which you enlisted, not sure if it's called something different in the Corps)
I had my emissions-failing Miata in Cali with FL plates when I was there. Because you're military, you're supposed to be able to keep your car registered in your home state. The only time I would have had to submit to The People's Republic of California's emissions testing would have been to get a Presidio of Monterey parking sticker. I just parked in the open lots instead. |
I Enlisted from Indiana, so if i kept my Indiana plates i would be exempt?

Im down at pendleton. Couldnt get it smogged so I just got North Carolina Plates on it. Only reason youll need smog is for CA registration or for Base. Gettin it registered on pendleton can be tricky without a smog but it can be done. Where on base are you?

And as for my Miata Im still in process of acquiring one i just wanted to know what i was getting into before i got one. Thanks guys for all the help.

Welcome.
They don't call our state the "smog nazi" state for no reason. |
