New clutch time?
The other day, while taking a hard pull, my clutch slipped and I smelled it in third gear. It's a fm stage one with 50k on it. 40k at around 200whp. First, should I expect this clutch to fail spectacularly soon? I don't do burnouts or hole hots. I'm going to use tax return money on the car. I have a stock flywheel now. If I drop down to an 11 lb one, will any retuning be needed? The ACT stage one only has capacity for 245 lbs of tq. My car has around 200 or so. Does anyone like the ACT over fm?

Unless abused, a clutch shouldn't go at 50k miles. Have you tried adjusting it?

If you need a clutch/fw, I’d look at the 949/supermiata offerings over act/fm.
they are a little more thoughtfully designed. The organic disc would suit your power level. |
Incorrect flywheel machining dramatically shortens clutch life.
Flywheel surface to boss depth should be 18.67 mm. I have seen as as high as 22 mm, which is a death sentence in short order. |
