new to forum
hey, im the new guy i guess. i had my miata for about 3months now and im getting bored with the 100 hp. i wanted to start looking into turbo kits so by the time i have the money, i will know exctly what to get.
i was looking on here a little and i always wanted to go with the fm turbo kit. now i'm thinking about the begi one and diy kits. i dont know anything about the last two yet but ill find out. i do know i want a small turbo though since i mostly autocross. i want to go to the track sometime though. anyways, hello. |

/thread It might just be the cheap bastard in me, but I would rather go quasi DIY with perhaps the BEGi manifold and downpipe, but would go with a used T3 based turbo, chineese intercooler, and deal with charge pipes myself. I'm sure Corky's intercooler is a little bit better than the china cooler, and his welded pipes are a bit prettier, but since I could get 95% the performance for 15% the price doing it myself, well it's a no brainer. |

Ahh, that was a good choice for your indecisive ass. I can't imagine all the threads you'd have started if you had to pick each part individually. :nono: Your saving grace was the fact you were willing to write the check.

urinary tract infection?
|
yup, urinary tract infection. i live next to urinary tract infection. i am also a student there. its cool.:vash:
oh, if you were serious, its universal technical institute. it's sort of a big deal. |
I've heard people refer to it as UnTrained Idiots. I have no opinion on it, just sharing that tidbit of anecdotal information ;)
|
I say do a track event first- then decide if you want to learn driving tracks with the added power of a turbo.

Bell S3 :-) (Thats what I run) - although I've f'd with it enough that I'd be able to comfortably build a kit now and yes for less $ - but having a prebuilt kit is easier and quicker and will get you going in one weekend w/o too much hassle. I'd add a real exhaust 2.5 or 3" all the way back if you've got the $ (I did and the spool is much better) and a full ECU w/decent injectors - lots avail on this forum or good references to injectors like the supras. If it's your first turbo install - a kit may be better suited for ya but if you know your way around the stuff then the DIY is not a bad option (especially if it's not your daily driver and you've got time to work on it - which mine is daily drvr and I didn't have a lot of time to plan and build the kit was a good option).

yeah mine's a daily driver and i dont have a garage at my appartment so the one weekend thing would be best. im really looking at the fm turbos because of the quality and poduct support. im also looking at the begi(sort of), and the greddy kit. i would only get the greddy kit if i could upgrade it with intercooler and better electronics. iobviously i still need to do a lot of research. thanks for your guys' help.
