New shift Knob

I Made this on my lathe. It was mostly free, as I used an old 2" trailer ball. Only cost was some time, a little effort and some sandpaper.

That's not chrome, that is just plain, old steel, polished up. Left is the mandrel (aluminum) I used to hold it in the lathe, center is the polypropolyene adapter. Finished knob weighs in at 15.3 oz. and the adapter is .3 oz.

Cool! What's the status on my knob? :-P

Yours isn't done yet. I was too busy polishing my knob.

Wait, that didn't sound right. I was playing with my ball. Er, I was rubbing one out.

Oh, damn.

Finished the knob for Longuyen88 today. Patterned after the type R. I machined it out of a solid round (c.r.s.), fished out of the scrap barrel at the office. After machining the chamfer, I filed the top round by hand. Lots of work, as my little lathe can't handle much.

I took it back to work and bead blasted the surface. Then the plating guys flashed a coat of nickel on it for me. Weighs in at 580 grams, or about 20.5 ounces.

The TWM ones cost $140.

My grandmother just got admitted to the hospital in Canada I'm afraid I can't make it. Can you give the knob to Paul?
