Looks much cleaner bro! What did you use to cut the front section off?

I just ordered my crinkle red powder coated valve cover today. I want to expose the front as well, but I might not. So many people are doing that these days...

jig saw :eek5:
then i cleaned it up with my dremmel.
did 3 coats of primer, and like 4 coats of silver paint,
used my moms nail polish for the letters :giggle:
painted the wire clips with red paint

UrbanSoot 05-08-2008 07:22 PM

it would help to bolt it down, dont you think?

I was gonna say jig saw? Yea, I plan on using my dremel with a cut off wheel.

Will nail polish stay?

Fixed that for ya.

It does look pretty good. I like the smooth look better than crinkle paint, myself.

urgaynknowit 05-08-2008 09:33 PM

i got some beers, got some paint, and tape and such, and went to town
took me about a day of slow lazy work

boostinboy 05-08-2008 11:45 PM

Yes, just like that. I figured I got the money....fuck it. My engine bay has been as is for years.

This is a picture from the company I ordered it from today.

I really like that, but I was thinking about doing florescent lime green for the letters...or black with lime green.

Zabac 05-09-2008 10:11 AM

I want Pink!!! With purple letters.

levnubhin 05-09-2008 10:19 AM

Looks good gay. Now hit your intake manifold with some red scrubbing pads.

We need someone to get us a hook up on powder coating. Zabac!

looks damn good. only thing is, i don't get why people expose the cam gears like that. why would you open up the belt and whatnot and give it all more of a chance to get dirty and fail faster?

urgaynknowit 05-09-2008 12:17 PM

im feeling lazy, i might tape off my motor bay, and spray the intake manifold black

The original reason was that some people run adjustable cam gears, and having an access port cut in the VC makes it easy to adjust them without having to pull the VC, such as one might do during a dyno session.

Then folks like urgaynknowit started doing it to look kewl.

Real men have two valve covers- one open, one closed. Prior to a dyno session where they intend to adjust cam timing, they install the open cover. Then after the session, they put the normal cover back on.

johndoe 05-09-2008 12:47 PM

don't tell that to paul...

urgaynknowit 05-09-2008 12:49 PM

it does look kewl tho right? :jerkit:
