Newbi

Hi,

Last tuesday I felt in love with a 1994 mazda miata. Manual tranny. I'm 18 years old and I own a 2004 volkswagen golf , 4 doors, work Ewing wheels and a set of coilovers to slam the car on the ground. This is my 3rd volkswagen, I've been owner of a 2003 passat 1.8t and of a 1990 volkswagen jetta, I love the handling of mk2 volks. I also owned a 1998 200sx se-r with a sr20ve engine, that car was pretty fast.

My golf is curently for sale, bone stock, and I plan of getting a 1994 mazda miata, a turbo kit, coilovers etc. But before all the cool stuff, I wanted to know if those mx5 are tough, high milleage (150 000km) engine are still tough enough for a turbo kit pushing 10psi?? Guys let me know all I should know before getting the car, I really want to get a miata and tune it into a little beast. :)

thanks

Possibly, he referenced the car having 150,000km

To the original poster, he was asking if english is a second language for you. Where are you located?

WagenFreak 06-12-2009 05:49 PM

Yes English is a second language to me. I speak french and live in Québec.

That's what I thought. Don't sweat it. Pretty much everyone gets hammered on their first post. I'm sure everyone will back off the grammar stuff now.

Post your location under your name. Go to User CP in the upper left corner and click Edit Your Details to enter the information. That way people know a bit about you.

That said, 150,000km car should be no problem with 10psi. Do a compression test and if that is good, and you do your part with a decent fuel and timing tune, you shouldn't have any problems.

UrbanSoot 06-12-2009 05:57 PM

go for it. these engines run for 200k miles without problems. thats of course if car was maintained properly.

You had understood. Keep useless comments away of my thread please, I'm looking to get informations, not comments about my english level. thanks.

WagenFreak 06-12-2009 06:02 PM

Thanks guys, I'm thinking of getting a Greddy turbo kit, the very simple one and add a small 1.8t intercooler or neon srt-4 intercooler, bigger injectors, exhaust and a good tuning. What is the limit of the stock ecu?

Ok, I feel bad then. Your english is not too shabby.

But in all seriousness, you should search and read the stickies. There is a lot to know in your situation and no one is going to want to type it all out for you in your thread unless you pay them for it.

WagenFreak 06-12-2009 06:09 PM

thanks, I just read something pretty nice. I have a brake set for a G-60 corrado at home, I just found it will fit under the miata.

I know, Greddy kit are for 1.6 engine, I'm searching for a kit like that for the 1.8. I'm a bit scared of ebay turbo kit.

That's not going to happen. Most people here are very helpful, but we also like to joke around and be very sarcastic. Deal with it.

BenR 06-12-2009 06:28 PM

You may want to start by checking out the vendors, and by checking out the threads wayne_curr posted above.
