Default Quick release steering wheel hub as theft deterrent

i dont have an alarm on my miata at the moment so i was wondering if quick release steering wheel hub could be a theft deterrent? i mean you cant get away if there is no steering wheel. Any one thing this could be a good idea?

There's a recent thread around here somewhere about quick releases, I have the bolt on LTB unit, which sticks out a bit farther than their weld on, but with a flat wheel I need the extra space.

It can be used for theft deterrent, but you can still drive just by grabbing the hub, especially if you have power steering.

I know my car inside and out, therefore know about a dozen or so ways to make it immobile, but I live in the middle of no where and only track my car, so its not a huge worry.

NRG quick release
I have the NRG and it's awesome. When I first got it I took off the steering wheel all the time and put it in the trunk, now I just don't care. I park on the street in downtown Toronto and people just don't give a **** about my car it seems. No alarm either.

Whenever I think of theft deterrent and steering wheel, an image of a vise-grip clamped to the steering axle comes to mind. If people really want your car, they will find a way.

i am sure there are many way to just steal it with a vise grip or just hold the hub. But its a deterrent.

Rushin, for the time being, you could always remove the fuel injection relay under the hood whenever you park the car.

That's just one of the many tricks I do when I park my car.

Miatas aren't stolen very often, it's usually soft tops getting slashed that seems to be the biggest problem.

+1 with spike.

As theft deterrent, i pull my fuel pump relay, too. It doesn't have the badass appeal of a QR wheel, but at least it's free.

It's the large gray rectangle on the lower left corner of the box in the pic. Right next to window washer bottle. Ignore the text.
