NO POWER aka no Balls aka slower than shit
91 miata. 114k miles Manual ---also have this posted on miata.net
http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread...91#post4467591 I am working on this car for someone locally My issue is this car has zero balls, nothing. Start it up rev it up by hand under the hood and its so so slow to rev up. Pulled out of the drive way and floored it i drove 100ft before it actually hit 15mph. THINGS IVE CHECKED: The power loss seemed kinda gradual, started losing power over time then just one day went to complete crap. Thought it was the shortnose crank failure but that is not the case. I have completely taken the front timing area apart after this sudden power loss started. Mechanical and ignition timing are dead on. The crankshaft is in solid shape and no pulley wobbling. New O2 sensor. Pulled cat off to check if its clogged and ran it with open header and got no change. New O2 sensor New fuel filter throws #2 code NE SIGNAL So not sure what else I should look at, prob going to test the fuel pump and compression tomorrow, was also curious about this thing here sometimes when started this little deal starts clicking like crazy and doesn't stop it appears to connect to the charcoal cannister. http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...rhrd/relay.jpg Also curious can a bad TPS cause this sudden power loss as well? Any and all information/suggestions are greatly appreciated. |
Is there something lodged in the intake?
|
Is it running rough at all in general?
If you've got proper fuel, and spark, and mechanical timing, then it sounds like an airflow problem. Maybe make sure the throttle body's actually opening? EDIT: Is this only at WOT? If so I'd check out the TPS, but I forget what the thing even does, it's just a switch, but thought it was to tell when at idle or not. |
Intake is completely clear

maybe cas is fucked up and timing is retarded to shit?
|
im pretty sure its fuel-related

Check the flux capacitor connections.
Maybe the AFM has packed it in? |

Spark plug wires.

If you don't WOT, but try and slowly/gradually add more throttle, does it respond better?
My coworkers volvo went super shitty, and I was looking at the fuel, fuel pump, fuel filter... Turned out the MAF wire had broken completely. Slowly adding throttle made it drivable, letting the o2 sensor have enough time to trim the fuel curve. |

Random Idea: Have a compatible computer you could swap in?
Can you get an O2 reading? |
Can you borrow or access an automotive oscilloscope so you can determine if you have an ignition system issue (plugs, plug wires, coilpack, igniter)? Have you tried plumbing a mechanical fuel pressure gauge in before the fuel rail to see if fuel is a problem?
