Noise from turbo or exhaust?

My 2001 has had a MK turbo kit for about 9 months now. I love the power. I have developed a bad rattle when deaccelerating. Usually around 4500-5000 rpms. It's coming from the left front. It sounds like exhaust hitting but I've checked the exhaust and ic pipes and there seems to be plenty of clearance. I had a similar noise once before and it was turbo mount bolts needed snugging. Not the case this time. I'm always jumping to the worse and I'm wondering if the turbo could have excessive shaft play, on the exhaust side only? Would it make a sound like an exhaust rattle? It gets more pronounced if you are taking a right turn or the road is bumpy.

I just replaced upper control arms because bushing were torn, thinking they might be vibrating. Not that either. Any suggestions for this relative noob. I really don't want to take off the whole manifold and turbo to check until maybe someone would think that's my next step.

Clearance with steering column?

Brilliant me. I jacked the car up today and looked good. The downpipe is resting on the front subframe. I tried adjusting V bands and just made it worse. What could cause the pipe to drop? The motor mounts are about 2 years old, but they are oem. Could it be possible that driver's side dropped a half an inch?

So the moral here is, "Subsequent to jacking one's vehicle up, one's physical appearance whilst searching for a rattle has an effect upon the efficacy of said search."

nothing there should ever "drop" unless it was installed incorrectly or failed in a dramatic fashion

I found that the v bands, on the turbo had a stripped bolt. It seemed to tighten but spun when really tightened. I'm getting a new v bands tomorrow. Hopefully that'll cure it.
If I need a new motor mount I will probably get a mazdacomp one. Nb2 mounts are a pita compared to the Nb1s. If I get the 3 hole nb1 mount bracket would it work on my nb2? It's only ten bucks from Treasure Coast, where I can order the new mount and some other stuff I need.

I've got some leftover 3 bolt 1.8 motor mount brackets you can have if you want, pretty sure it's a direct bolt on. Also I think I've got a couple spare 3" vband clamps, I can let you borrow one if you need it.

I saw, I believe sixshooter's post, about twisting the downpipe towards the transmission. This, along with a new v band cured my noise. Now I feel stupid for thinking it was worse news. I proved myself to be a noob once again.
