Non-miata vendors FTW!!!
While I do appreciate and buy stuff from the dedicated miata vendors (who also develop and support a lot of great stuff for the miata community :bigtu: ), their prices for common parts/items just seem a bit pricey sometimes (granted they need to make a living too), especially for parts that are popular with the miata community.
Anyhoo...in researching components for my next project, I decided to look to non-miata vendors and low and behold they have no idea what things are "worth" to the miata community. I wouldn't have believed it until it arrived at my front door today, but I got a 2000 complete cylinder head off a running, non-thrust bearing issue engine w/89K miles for $200 shipped to my door. Score! :bigtu: |
what do you need a 00 head for? got some big plans?

Did you get the intake manifold too?

I can't wait to see what the adapter plate looks like ;) :gay:
BTW can I at least paypal you the $$$$ I owe you...it's burning a hole in my pocket. |
Found it online from a salvage yard. In fact, I almost bought one from a 99 for about $300 + shipping from another online salvage place, but then I found this one. The original asking price was $250 + shipping and when I called the guy said $200 to your door so it didn't take me long to say yes. :)
Didn't come with intake mani, but that's okay as Andy has me thinking Begi IM, if not Begi, maybe fab up a mani from that other recent post with the link to the fancy IM parts. As for the big plans, I just feel like I've reached the "safe" limits of my current stock 1.6 internals (I know Ric and others have gone a lot higher, but heck, I'm not trying to kill my engine, even though some of you think so). So I figured that if I'm going to build an engine, might as well start with the increased displacement of the 1.8 + overbore and the better flowing 99-00 head. Plus, since the engine build is on the side, I can still enjoy the current car without it being out of commission. Still debating whether to jump on the current group buy for stronger rods from ETD or try out the pseudo-stroker honda rod setup... |
I've been wondering for a while, and at the expense of sounding dumb...
What is FTW? |
This makes me think it's odd that I couldn't sell either of my 99 heads on ebay for $100. hmm...
