Is it normal for a Miata engine to be this loud?

So I'm about to slap on my turbo and I've done all the pre-flight checks, and everything seems fine. The one thing, however, that has always bugged me is how much noise my engine makes, since I don't have another Miata to compare it to I'm not sure if it's normal.

I go up to about 4,000rpms in the video:

Sounds pretty damned quiet if you ask me.

Faeflora 04-11-2010 06:04 PM

Normal. The miata is a noisy thrashy bitch. Ride her well!

Are you guys sure? I'm running a 100 shot of NOS, I'll be lucky if I didn't blow the welds on the intake manifold.

Well then in that case just stop granny shifting and not double-clutching. Then you will be fine.

Rouphis 04-11-2010 07:27 PM

I don't know, the floor pans may fail at anything above 75 NOS.

You're fucking joking right? The intake is solid up to a 150hp++ shot but the problem is the front differential usually breaks synchros around a 50shot with that type of antilag.

I was always good at math and shit. Everything else, I failed.

This thread is now about how pathetic our lives are since we can quote Fast and the Furious from memory.

Koni adjustables, they'll save us 2 pounds, and give us better traction off the line. Here's your basic design, and here's what it could look like when it's finished.
